Yes it was. It's the chozo statue that controlled the plant that took out the power generator. It gives you the Plasma Beam. Nettori.

Yeah, Nettori is the Golden torizo of Metroid Fusion. And an X Parasite would become a Core-X if it gathered enough Parasites, it would then turn into the item parasite, infect something, and when it was bothered in some way, it'd form into a Core-X. But....thats only what I think.
