Re: So freaking close!!!Hey, Thunder? You missed number 23. Also, you can get 87 before 24 with a sideways shinespark through the door, then firing at the wall as you smack into it. :3

Re: So freaking close!!!
The reason it's number 87 is because I always get it on the way back around to Ridley. Getting it in place of the missing 23 (I am so redoing this map) would be going out of the way, adding time to the run. I always enter Crocomire's area through that shutter that you need the Wave Beam to enter, dropping through that shaft full of red Pirates and whatnot. ![]()

Re: So freaking close!!!Ah-haaah. I do it the other way around. I was trying to figure out how you were getting to the Crocomire either without power bombs or what power bombs you were picking up if not the ones near the Red Brinstar elevator. It was the one thing I wasn't able to figure out how you did, but that explains it. I forgot about getting to Crocomire via the gate because of the sequence break.

Re: So freaking close!!!
Yeah, I do the sequence break, defeat Crocomire, and there's a pack of Power Bombs two rooms over (on the way to the Grapple Beam). ![]()

Re: So freaking close!!!Rinoa how are you doing in SM Speed time?Any progress?
If i was in Metroid universe, i would marry Samus, and if i could choose an ability,Speed Booster would be mine. Finally i got all ending pictures,Metroid Fusion JP Version Completed

Re: So freaking close!!!Samusfan, I haven't tried again yet. I did do another successful speed run of Metroid 1 starting from scratch, I beat it in under 3 hours, and then I beat it again in just barely over an hour starting with all powerups except missiles and energy tanks.

Re: So freaking close!!!It will become easier to complete Super Metroid in under 2 hours if you keep trying. The best time is currently 100% in 55 minutes.

Re: So freaking close!!!I think when I'm done with MP3 I'm going to play RoS again and see about shaving an HOUR or two off of my time. Yeah, it took me over 6 hours to finish that one, I'm going to try for at least the second ending and maybe the best one. I liked that game, I thought it was great to keep my mind off of "when is Sarah going to arrive????" when I was 8-9 months pregnant with her last summer/fall.
It took me a few months to even get my hands on a cartridge of that game. I kept calling the local play and trade game shop (Gamestop doesn't carry retro carts as we all know...) to see if they got one yet, and I finally decided to call "just in case" and they had it, so David and I drove there to get it. $8.00! I thought it was a great deal. Maybe this should just be a general classic speedrun/completion thread? LOL |

Re: So freaking close!!!A speedrun of 55 minutes! HOW?! it's a massive game. I've never managed 100%, but I think I would aim for that for a couple of playthroughs before I try a speedrun. My best time for an average playthrough is 4:56. I found all energy tanks and reserves, and then totally forgot.
And because my SNES was always a bit... off (overloads), I would occasionally switch it on to find that the save slots were blanked. I was never a fan of battery backup. So I would play the ROM - it became the only option when the SNES power pack died too So now I can connect my Wii to the 'net using my phone - I bought Metroid 1 (which I never had before and am loving it) and this morning I proudly bought Super I know it's cliche - but the controller is the unseen partner I have no hope of achieving 55 minutes, my head would spin like a ![]() ...maybe if I could shinespark IRL... I'd LOVE to see someone complete Super Zero Mission or Redesign that quick ![]() |

Re: So freaking close!!!Alright ya'll, I'm now on Super Metroid in my chronological playthru of the Metroid Series! Wish me luck! *Cracks knuckles*

Re: So freaking close!!!Good luck! If you're trying a speedrun, I have my fingers crossed - 55 minutes?
I need to get a 3DS for Metroid RoS - my nephew borrowed my Game Boy for Mario Land and cracked the screen (my poor Game Boy Colour, good times, happy places When I finish University, I think I'll play through them in order too. Of course, I would have to finish the first, first That is a genius idea though, so good luck Aw, my time off is up 02:30am - goddamn insomnia. |
