Super deserves the #1 spot. But you know that feeling of attachment you get from the first game you played well, for me that was Metroid 2. Thats what I started with even though we had a nes in the house and my cousin would always forget to bring Metroid1 whenever he'd come.

Super Metroid, without any doubt, and I don't have to explain why, everyone already did it. SM can be considered the best SNES game ever, or even the best platform game, and I relly doubt Zero Mission or Fusion(despite the fact that they're almost as good as SM) could dream of getting that honorable title.

I have to agree with someone who said his honorable mention went to Metroid II... I got impressed by how the game developers with such a small memory to work with were able to make a game that is so fun to play! I can really say I got games a million times bigger and two million times boring. :metroid:

I'd have to say Metroid Fusion...First Metroid I ever played.

I know, you're all going to call me crazy. But the whole sci-fi element to Fusion made it so epic. I actually liked the linear system, because the X gave a creepy atmosphere to the station. I loved how Adam always gave the creepy sci-fi 'oh noes!' speeches.

Have you studied statistics before? We have only 46 votes now, and this is far away from anything that can be considered a reliable source of information about the preferences of "the population".

Its like you get 2 random people to choose the best metroid: If the two pick prime hunters you can already consider it the preference of most part of gamers? No. maybe if you pick two hundred people you can get more accurate results.
