Reserve Tank: Auto or Manual?

Postby Bomber Bob » 02.28.14 8:11am

I've noticed more Metroid players use Auto over Manual. And although I have mine on Manual, I would like to know what you guys like to use.

Auto-Phil or Manual-lee?

Auto

personally, I think they might as well have been energy tanks.
it's not like it would have changed much.

Auto, except when I drain them in Tourian during the Metroid cutscene so that I have an excuse to use the Crystal Flash.

Personally, I find those Reserve Tanks to possibly be the most useless items in the entire series.
:metroid: = Ultimate Warrior
8) = Ultimate Warrior
Therefore, 8) = :metroid:

Now you know why they call it Metroid.

I leave my reserve on auto. It allows me to focus more on the game this way.

Useless, that's the key word. But I guess they actually do more good than harm. When I look at my energy, I only look at how many tanks I have left and completely forget that I have reserved energy. So it makes me more cautious before it's too late to be.

May as well be fucken energy tanks really...Auto.

I should have had more uses for the Reserve Tanks, such as a Hypermode. Then I'd have reason to leave it on Manual (to stop the game from automatically using my Hypermode ammo to save me, ruining my chances to defeat the enemy)

But no, glorified energy tanks it is...

Reserve Tanks are actually a really good idea. You forget about them, and sudenly you're at low health. After a few bouts of OMG IM GONNA DIE, your health refills.

Well then you become too reliant on it. What happens when you think you have energy reserved, because you're a complete noon and forget that the double arrow next to you energy tanks is yellow when you have reserved energy, and carelessly take a hit. You die thinking "What the hell just happened?!"
It's just a glorified energy tank, and a trolling mechanic.

Yes, but that's if you're sane. If you're insane things are much different

The only place I've ever needed the reserve tanks is the Ridley battle, which maybe not even then as I have found an easier method of killing him than the one I've been previously using.

I agree with KazerBeam.

I find myself suddenly getting whacked by an enemy and then recharging, thus giving me a second chance at life. I also forget I have reserves quite often and it's always set to auto. I feel the reserve tank system is similar to Metal Gear Solid's rations due to you being healed, if both are equipped, in the event of a possible death.
