Super Metroid: Help on Maridia Quicksand?

I know how to jump out of the quicksand, but in the second room(?) of the quicksand area there is a gap that is impossible to jump across. I could have been able to jump up if it weren't for the pillar flatforms to be too high and there is falling sand in the way. Can anyone help?

You'll need the :s-grav:, which you should have before entering Maridia unless you're intentionally sequence breaking. The Space Jump helps a great deal as well, otherwise jumping out of the sand pits just right is a major pain. If you don't yet have the Gravity Suit, head to the Wrecked Ship due east of Samus' landing site.
