Samus Aran: The Arsenal

Postby Naner » 09.05.08 12:22pm

IE Edit: stickied. ;)

So, as seen in News, we must create a list involving all of Samus' weapons and abilities, and what are their uses.
Let's begin from the beginning.

Now, create you own descriptions of upgrades and abilities, and increment others' works as well!

EDIT: Now this post will have all upgrades so far. I'll soon put them in groups.

Power Suit

The Chozo-created Power Suit is multi-functional. Not only does it highly raises her defensive abilities, but it also permits to use agility as an advantage. The suit is also fully customizable, being compatible with nearly any type of upgrade in existence. The suit allows for comfort and precision, not to mention the immense firepower.

Arm Cannon

The power suit's main vector for offensive weaponry, the arm cannon is a modular energy weapon that completely occupies the right gauntlet of the suit. Like the rest of the suit's equipment, the arm cannon is modular, recombining on a nanological level to fill numerous functions. Weapon module data for the arm cannon can be downloaded into the suit's internal biocomputer, expanding the unit's versatility.

Power Beam

The Chozo sidearm of choice is a meta-kinetic projector; a weapon that directs kinetic energy at its target without need of a physical medium. On its own, the power beam's firepower is equal to that of most alien small arms.

Charge Beam

Typically, the arm cannon pulls energy out of the suit's micro-reactors for each shot, drawing power at the same rate it is needed. The charge beam module allows the arm cannon to store a larger supply of energy internally, drawing power from the suit until it reaches capacity. When discharged with a full battery, the cannon unloads everything, drastically increasing firepower over that of uncharged shots.

Missiles

The weakest of the heavy weaponry are the regular missiles. Each missile causes a similar damage to that of a charged beam, but with limited ammo and no charging time. Each extra missile tank will add 5 missiles to the fully loaded suit. When used, the arm cannon opens up for the missile to fit.

Morph Ball

One of the greatest wonders of Chozo technology, the Morph Ball permits the user to roll into a ball, facilitating passage through small tunnels. The morphed suit also serves as a key to certain Chozo-created statues and mechanisms.

Bombs

Bombs allow the Morph Ball mechanism to eject small energy explosives to enhance the Power Suit's alternative form offensive potential while in the feild. Under certain conditions, the Charge Beam technology can be intergrated with the Morph Ball to allow a combat manuver that disperses multiple bombs at surroundings. Bombs can produce aerial techniques called the Bomb Jump, allowing for better navigation and recon of smaller areas.

Space Boots

Built by the Chozo inhabitants of Tallon IV, the Space Boots were engineered to enhance the aerial potential of the Power Suit's bipedal status. These boots allow the user to reach new heights, while setting up more advanced dodging techniques when it comes to lethal enemies.

Grapple Beam

The Grapple Beam allows the user to hook on to any object and swing across a gap. It also allows her to break energy sheild by hooking on to the generator and yanking it off the enemy.

Screw Attack

This upgrade allows the suit to become an airborne sawblade of energy in under a second. Used in tandem with the Space Jump, the user in virtually invincible while somersaulting.

Varia Suit

A common addition to the Chozo arsenal, found in multiple star systems, the Varia suit has a stronger defensive capability, as well as the ability to traverse certain harsh environments, such as extreme heat or cold.

Power Grip

The suit’s left arm piece is upgraded with advanced servos motors capable of hauling her and her entire suit over a ledge. Using the Power Grip, the user can also hang onto ledges and other accessible surfaces and attack from them.

Ice Beam

Rather than transferring energy into the target, this extremely advanced weapon does the opposite. The decelerator, or "Ice Beam," fires a null-kinetic charge that triggers a rapid loss of energy from the target. Depending on the size and insulation of the target, this weapon can freeze or completely destroy certain organisms and devices. Frozen creatures can be used as platforms to reach previously unreachable areas.

Space Jump

Since true flight would make unacceptable demands on the suit's power supply, this module makes a passable substitute. By releasing short bursts of meta-kinetic force, the power suit can be propelled for a short distance into the air. The mechanism recharges quickly enough for a skilled commando to use successive blasts to achieve flight, provided his or her timing is impeccable. Because the suit must be curled up and spinning in order to sufficiently bypass aerodynamics, most weapons are unusable during flight; the Screw Attack was developed to mitigate this flaw.

Wave Beam

Electron particle beams are commonplace among spacefaring races. However, very few of them have managed to alter the dimensional state of the particles, causing them to submerge into a lower phase of physical interactivity and resurface at random intervals during their flight path. This metaphasic electron beam passes through all but the densest and thickest of physical barriers, allowing the wielder to quickly eliminate heavily armored targets, or even fighter pilots. When the metaphasic catalyst is deactivated, the wave beam doubles as a wireless "jump cable," capable of channeling electrical energy from the suit into an external receptacle.

Plasma Beam

A portable, hot plasma weapon, this is one of the simplest (but also most powerful) of the arm cannon modules. The superheated, subatomically unstable particle beams fired from the cannon often kill their target with a fraction of their energy, allowing the rest of the plasma to burn right through the target and continue flying. The plasma beam is compatible with most other modules, most notably the wave beam; a metaphasic plasma charge can burn a swath through enemy ranks in just one shot, especially when fully energized via charge beam.

High Jump

This mechanism gives an extra boost to the Power Suit's propulsion system, allowing it to reach higher heights. It also increments the jumping possibilities of the Wall Jump and Space Jump.

Wall Jump

An ability Samus learned while training with the Chozo on Zebes. Combining her supreme agility with her over-the-average stranght, Samus can grab walls and propel herself against it, reaching a greater height. By forcing herself back to the same wall, she can jump indefinitely in only one wall. When Samus had to use the Fusion Suit, during the X incident, the suit and her injuries did not allow her to continue jumping on the same wall.

Ice Missiles

When, for some reason, it is impossible to install the Ice Beam to the suit, it resorts to another, this time physical(not modular), upgrade, the Ice Missiles. The Ice Missiles combines the powers of the Missiles and Ice Beam, freezing enemies to be used as platforms, and still being a powerful weapon against bigger foes. When Ice Missiles are acquired, regular Missiles are replaced by them, continuing with the same amount of Missile Tanks already obtained.

Super Missiles

One of the(if not the) most powerful of the suit's weapons system. Over twice the size of a regular Missile, Super Missiles are fast and strong. The strength of a Super Missile hitting the ground is nearly as powerful as a small earthquake. A Super Missile is five times stronger than a regular Missile, ending even the most mighty foes quickly and efficiently. Like Missiles, the amount of Super Missiles the user can carry is increased with the addition of Super Missile Tanks. In certain situations, Super Missiles are just an upgrade of the regular missiles, maintaining the same amount of tanks.

Gravity Suit

Once equipped with these Spacial Compressors, the varia suit's internal computer begins automatically creating and altering its own gravitational field. The resulting increase in speed allows the suit to compensate for any friction from a surrounding liquid or gaseous medium, making the Gravity Suit essential for underwater exploration. In addition to greatly improved mobility and acrobatic capability, the gravity field allows the suit to reduce the force of incoming blows, reducing the burden on the shields.

Long Beam

The original Power Beam module's shots had a short life-span and easily dissolved itself in the air. With this module, the shots become more resistant to the air's friction and being able to travel near infinitely before hitting an object(unless already equipped with Wave/Plasma Beams).

Diffusion Missiles

An upgrade to the regular Missiles or to the Super Missiles, the Diffusion Missiles module charges up the Missiles before releasing them, like in the Charge Beam. The result is an immense explosion, destroying or freezing (with the Ice Missiles upgrade) any foe caught in the explosion, including specific minerals that can only be destroyed with Missiles.

Seeker Missile

A slight change in software makes these missiles significantly more destructive. In the nose of ordinary missiles is a chip that controls its targeting capability. The Power Suit interprets data from this chip, and redirects the missile to its target, if it has moved. With the upgraded software, the Power Suit is able to keep track of, and direct, up to 5 missiles simultaneously. These may hone in on multiple targets, or only one. While agile enemies may break the target lock of the first missile, they are less likely to break lock on the second, the third, and so on. In this way, the Seeker Missile increases the strength of any arsenal of which it is part.

I think I'll let Sylux take on the Space Jump.

I'm not really sure how this helps Samus beat Master Chief. She can... um... do better parkour than he can.

I don't suppose the Power Grip also gives the arm cannon the ability to grab things, like the ceiling ladder things in Fusion and Zero mission? Or is that built in? oO

Ice Beam

A modular upgrade to Samus's Power Beam. It allows it to fire super cooled blasts of semi-solid energy. The Ice Beam can freeze creatures solid, frozen creatures can be used as platforms to reach previously unreachable areas.

My theories on making the floating realistic.

IF there was just a pillar of ice connecting them to the floor would work. Or maybe there's super compressed helium in the ice, which causes it to float?
Lol

Aw, you gotta explain how they float! :P

Then again, no-one but Sylux knows

NO. BAD LAZARIUS.

1. Cold is the absence of energy; "super cooled energy" is a nonsense term.

2. "Semi solid energy" is equally nonsensical. Something can be composed of both material and energy components, but energy is never "semisolid."

Try again.
