I thought Portal Flash was good and fun, then I played the real deal and those thoughts left my head. It's kind of like this: Portal left me thinking, while Portal Flash left me dieing until my solution worked. Portal was a puzzle game, while Portal Flash was a platformer with a twist. Like I wrote earlier: If done well, I would like it, but Portal Flash just doesn't gel with me anymore.

I'm not sure if you realized it, but you're comparing a full game by a loved developer to a flash-based fangame based on it. Of course Portal is going to do portals more effectively. Given the limited resources Portal:Flash had, it was pretty good. The design of the puzzles inspired several mods and even an Xbox exclusive extended edition. You should try the mods Portal Prelude and the official Portal Flash Map Pack made by the creator of Portal Flash. Portal Flash's puzzles feel very similar even in a 3D environment, and yes, you die a lot.
Oh, and for the annoying personality core/Wheatley convo I wrote... I kinda dropped the ball on that one. I started writing an example of an annoying, persistent presence, but I ended up having fun with it and thought that it would be funny (especially if it was Wheatley). Having one like GLaDOS on the other shoulder constantly bickering with him and taunting Samus would also be a hoot.
That would be pretty great, actually. Almost like when
PoTaDOS was attached to the Portal gun.
Still, I don't think those pauldrons were intended to speak.
It would be funny if there was an Adam core, actually. "PICKING ME UP IS NOT AUTHORIZED. USE OF PORTAL BASED DEVICES IS NOT AUTHORIZED. SABOTAGING THE MAINFRAME NOT AUTHORIZED. PRESSING THAT BUTTON NOT AUTHORIZED."
