Metroid Pumpkin Carving

Just curious if anyone is doing any Metroid themed pumpkins this year.

I know I will. I just started and will update with some pictures as I progress :-D

I agree with VGM, I always thought those were incredible. Now I'm embarrassed for even linking to my old topic... -_-;

And yeah, sometimes there's not a lot to discuss, especially since new content hasn't been out or mentioned in two years. The most exciting things we've been able to discuss recently are the Samus Figma and Zero Mission statuette, and Metroid Blast. Compared to other series, it's kind of depressing.

We always love your Metroid-themed pumpkin carvings each year!! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us!

My girlfriend and I actually just carved our pumpkins today. Not metroid themed, but I made the logo of the game I'm working on, The Dead Linger, since we're going to be releasing our Alpha build on the 31st. I also made the "classic" looking one. She made the evil one with the horns. I know firsthand how difficult and time consuming it is to make these carvings, even if you have the proper tools, so mucho mucho respect to Primevil for all the fantastic work he does, year after year.

Great looking pumpkins IE. I like the logo, checked out the actual logo and it looks spot on.

As for the upcoming Metroid pumpkin... I have a guess:

You'll keep with the face/head pattern (Samus face, Mother Brain front shot, Aurora Unit), and we'll get another character. That's still cool. There are a few I wouldn't mind seeing.

Though an outline of Ridley would be all kinds of awesome.

Nope! going with something different this year.

So one season of Breaking Bad later here's what I've got going so far. I'll do another update tomorrow (need sleep).

What id like to know is how do you go about doing these sorts of carvings? What tools do you use. You kind of inspired me to do something with our pumpkin as it still needs carving.

Just the first. It's incredibly intense. Probably not the best choice of programming as there are time's I just can't pull my eyes away from the screen.

Hopefully they will be done by then. I do have 2 exams and a large lab this week so I won't make any promises.

For carving I usually use one of those linoleum block carving tools. This year I found an Xacto knife designed for cutting stencils that has been working really well. If you'd like I can try to upload some pictures.

Btw what do u do when your done with the pumpkin?
Do you preserve them with a spray or throw them out?
It would be such a shame to throw out such master pieces.
