Re: MDbtroid - RELEASED!Yeah, keyboard controls on emulators usually suck balls. I think there's really no excuse to play emulated games with a keyboard. Just buy either a [game controller of your choice] to USB adapter, or use a PC-compatible joypad. 360 controllers are already USB and windows-compatible, too, but the Dpads on them kinda suck...

Re: MDbtroid - RELEASED!SNES USB controller? How did you manage that?
On second thought, I do think I read about a way to convert the SNES controller to be PC compatible. |

Re: MDbtroid - RELEASED!Excellent graphic's hack Infinity, good as always.
I loved how true you stayed to the series and yet still kept the NES Metroid "Feel". Kraid and the Ridley bosses looked nice, even when they were small as in the original Metroid. Thanks CC For The Sig!"Statement: Oh, do shut up, you beeping little trash compactor." ―HK-47 to T3-M4 |

Re: MDbtroid - RELEASED!So, can someone tell me how to get this working?
The readme file in the zip still is a bit vague on everything. I have: A Metroid ROM metroid.lua the file full of IPS stuff, though I don't know what to do with it MBDtroid.ips FCEUX Now, what do I do with all of those files? Specifically, I'm no fool, I know how to run the Metroid game, but what do I do with the other stuff (ie the patch, IPS stuff, and lua?)?

Re: MDbtroid - RELEASED!
Create a copy of the metroid ROM. Use an IPS patcher (such as Lunar IPS) to patch the copy of the ROM with the IPS file. Play in any emulator. Enjoy. For extra pleasure, using a newer version of FCEUX (there may be an issue with the very newest version), use the File menu to load the .lua file, which will add many features to the game. |

Re: MDbtroid - RELEASED!The red step.
How do you do that one.

Re: MDbtroid - RELEASED!Here is Lunar IPS
http://www.zophar.net/utilities/patchut ... r-ips.html Just click Apply Patch, find the IPS. Then another browser will come up, find the Metroid ROM you want to apply the patch to. Then you should be done. |

Re: MDbtroid - RELEASED!Before I explain, I'll just say that you definitely should use Lunar IPS (LIPS). Get it now, it makes this about as simple as possible.
Open LIPS and you'll get a message asking you if you want to create or apply an IPS patch. Say you want to apply one, browse to the MDBTROID IPS file and select it, this will open another browse window, use this to find the copy of the metroid rom you want to apply it to. Select that as well, and LIPS will patch the ROM with the IPS file, but leave it as a ROM. Now you can open this ROM in an NES emulator and it'll run just fine. Also, to use the LUA file, use the FCEUX emulator, and (while running the ROM) open the file menu and tell it to run an LUA script. Then browse to the file, select it, and tell the program to run it. This window can then be minimized (not closed), and the emulator will run the script with the game. EDIT: Oooh, I hate you delayed post submission! |
