Varia Suit Icon Recreation

This is my attempt at recreating a Varia Suit icon from scratch with the GIMP.

What I did was at first was recreate the three basic parts - the "S", the middle, and the ring around the middle in basic, one color. I then used a GIMP metallic tutorial. For the color, I colorized the middle and had the red as an overlay for the steel section.

I planned on making it look like the Varia Suit upgrade in the actual game, not the Metroid Prime logo. However, I can't find a screenshot of it in game, so I remade it from memory. I know it's missing the indentations, I can't figure out how to make them very well.

EDIT: Added one with the indentations - not sure if it looks too good though.
EDIT: Added an attempt to recreate the title... I need a proper grunge brush to finish it though.
