Post Fusion "Armored" Varia Suit Concept Art

Postby HYRUL3 » 03.30.11 6:55pm

Essentially, a hybrid of the classic Varia and Fusion suits for a more "armored" look.

If I ever made a Metroid game, which I hope to do after I go through my game design program, this is a suit I would hope to see.

I scanned the same black and white image and filled it in with a few different color schemes, but those are for another day I guess.

Feedback please?

EDIT:

Here is V2.0 of the suit.

Keep giving feedback guys! I can perfect it. And if anyone has an uncle at Nintendo send 'em my way!

Those spikes on her shoulders are going to make it hurt that much more when she shinesparks into enemies. :awesome: Pretty cool overall, I especially like the black under-armor. It makes for a good colour scheme.

Thanks Zero. I was going for a very organic yet protective, alien look, and I think the contrasting colors achieve that alien feel.

Thanks to you as well, LC.

I like the idea of Samus keeping the Fusion suit but re-adding some additional armor to it before or during Metroid 5. A suit similar to what you have drawn could be a potential upgrade for Samus to acquire in Metroid V.

Thank you. I would love to see something like it (or better yet that itself if my dream comes true and I make the follow up to Fusion. haha).

Great idea! I would guess Nintendo will do something similar to this. Her helmet seems too big- you might try shrinking it in photoshop, if you felt up to it.

Personally, I'd prefer a more jointed transition between the pauldrons (shoulder armor) and the bicep armor, perhaps some more of the black.

Nice job! :D Very clean and easy to read!

Oh, is that what they're called? Awesome. Now that everyone knows, there is no longer any excuse for calling them "shoulder-ball-thingies." :P

I will no doubt do a revision, I tend to do revisions all the time on my art and writing. So I'll update it when I have time, haha.

I actually tried a smaller helmet design but felt it looked kind of silly. It looked like a baseball between two basketballs, haha. I may go for a "medium" sized compromise.

Also, I may try the pauldron idea, however my initial reasoning for keeping them together was to be reminiscent of the way the Fusion suit's shoulders flow right into the arms. I will update in the revision.

Thank you Mr. McIHOP.

And yes, LC, those are pauldrons... where have you been? :P

For the record, I never knew that until I looked up a diagram of medieval armor. :P

Hahaha. About 8 years ago I went to a local museum when I lived in Florida, they were having an expo on medieval warfare. I was obsessed with the stuff at the time, so I gobbled it up. Haha. Did you know the part of the helmet that covers the mouth is called a bevor? Haha.

Anyway, I may post the other two variants. One is a Gravity Suit variant and the other is, well... interesting. MaiAriSquee, you're a Mod, should I just post them here or make separate topics? It's been a while since I read the rules for this board, and I'm kind of strapped for time...

Cool stuff. I like the mixture of classic and new. The helmet is ok, because the fusion suit tends to have smaller *looks up word* pauldrons, then the straight up Chozo Varia suit.
