Galactic civil war

So, I've been thinking. In a post-fusion metroid universe, what would be the biggest threat to the galaxy? Well, how about the federation itself. We hear a lot about the federation army and HQ in the original, Super, Other m, and Fusion, but we don't really get much input about the marines except in Hunters, Prime 2 and Prime 3. So what if there was a huge civil war beginning right about the time of Return of Samus and continuing on past fusion. It would make for an interesting story, game, or even possibly a trilogy. It would be interesting if it started over the security of containing the [spoiler]Pirate homeworld[/spoiler] immediately after prime 3. And all of this [spoiler]bio weapon[/spoiler] nonsense was because of the civil war, however, samus herself is unaware of the state of the federation until meeting with the marines and seeing the war taking place. I was curious about people's thoughts or opinions.

Its interesting, but frankly a pretty cliche concept. On top of that I have a feeling Samus keeps up to date with current events and would know as soon as civil war erupted.
