Feedback: The Woman behind the Visor

Postby Infinity's End » 11.13.08 3:10pm

Hey guys,
I just added part 5 of this feature today. I would love to know if any of you read it and how you felt about the feature. It's this kind of feedback that gives us a better idea for creating new stuff in the future. Thanks again!

I loved the feature! I read parts 1~3 and am going to read 4 and 5 now. I really makes Samus' character more deep.
Naner, you rock.

Egotistical much? Stickying a post about your work?

It's nice work though. Though, not too sure about all these deep meaningful points you try to project onto a game that is essentially run-shoot-blow up-escape.

Lighten up.

People make threads to get feedback for their work all the time. Furthermore, it's a Metroid Database article and this is the Metroid Database message board, so what's so egotistical about for opinions about it?

True, I suppose I was thinking of it as an Infinity's End thread, when it could also be interpreted as an Mdb thread.

But, assuming it was just an IE thread, he should have no more right to sticky it then any other Fan thread.

I think the sticky is justified since it is a front-page feature on the main site.

Overall the essay is pretty good. There are a few things I'd change but I'm not gonna go into detail right now. I didn't know the manga was canon till I read that part in your essay. Was that ever discussed on the forum? I must have completely missed that.

Well, the manga is supposedly influenced by Yoshio Sakamoto. Unfortunately, I've not seen a first-hand source on the matter (i.e. an interview with YS that actually talks about his involvement with the manga). In fact, the only place I remember reading it was in Games Magazine's article on Metroid, and even then I don't hold that tidbit of information very high in terms of reliability.

I enjoyed it, and the writing was readable, know what I mean?

Only thing I can think of that I disagreed with was the whole rant about Fusion in part 4. I never really felt like it detracted from the actual game myself.

I usually don't get held up on preconceived notions for series. If the game tells me to do something, I'll do it, and see how fun it is. The earlier Metroid Games didn't tell you to do ANYTHING, so you had to make your own fun exploring. Fusion told you what to do, and following those orders turned into a generally fun experience.

Though this is not the best argument (as exploration is a staple for the series), I don't think a Metroid game should be limited by saying "You HAVE to have THAT or else it is not a good/true/etc. Metroid game"

You can even twist this into arguing how Hunters was a good game, by saying it was a fun diversion from the series' norm. Unfortunately for me (and MANY other people), it was a diversion, but not a particularly FUN one. But I think we see that exceptions to that group DO exist...

Good article.
must be some sorta side effect of the hatchling or maybe she should stop going down on Miyamoto.
