General Contest Thread

Wonderful job everybody.

To be completely honest, I just entered to have my entry on the site. Because I...well...already kind of own everything in the contest. :awesome:

I would've felt bad if I had won it all again. x_x

Except for the signed posters, of course, but my living space doesn't have much room for that.

Still, very big congratulations to everyone. Marvelous job. :X:

Is there a limit of how many entries a single person can submit? Also you specified that we can not make any metroid off shoots. What about different types of space pirates?

Currently, there is no limitation on entry submissions. I knew the space pirate question would arise -- if you can come up with an idea creative enough, then we will decide based on our judgement. It will be up to you to realize whether your idea is original enough or not.

Look at it this way - we are basically saying you can create any kind of alien creature/species to the complete limits of your imagination. Just not something that has already been used/created. If your creation happens to be a part of the faction of space pirates, then that would be a detail of the creature, not what defines its entirety. Now, something like a Zebesian lobster-claws-for-hands Space Pirate that has two heads instead of one? Not gonna fly.

Make sense?

I have a few questions to ask.

I have an idea for what I'm going to do but it also ties into the game-play somewhat. Would it be ok to do that for my entry?

Another question: If this 'living' creature were to be in-countered in the games... Should we have/create a weak point on our enemy? Should we explain how Samus kills it? You said we could do a logbook, so I'm thinking about that. Just wanting to clarify before I start really making this thing come 'alive'.

Read the rules. There's very little here that can disqualify you.

I assume you meant to say "encountered"? Again, read the rules. Do as much or as little as you like for description. Just don't go overboard. We're trying to keep from having to read through pages and pages of descriptions.

Just wanted to say to all the over seas folks out there. Just because you cant receive prizes doesn't mean you cant submit an entry. After all the point is more about creating and sharing your creativity and love for the metroid series. (most likely you guys have Other M and some of the other swag anyway) :awesome:

Is it okay within the bounds of the rules if I use the color scheme that Nightmare from Fusion uses? I'm making a monster sprite meant to be a possible monster in Fusion. I'm even making the animations and everything.

Also, is there an age limit? Do you have to be 18 or older to get the prize?

If there was an age limit, it would have been stated. If there was a color scheme rule, it would have been stated. You guys need to just chill and quit being so paranoid about breaking these rules! z-_-'

The only thing we are saying is that it has to be an original idea and it can't be a different kind of metroid! Enjoy and create!

, is it ok if I make my entry out of something like Super Sculpey? I know it said 3D renders, but I don't have any sort of software like that; my drawing skills are good, but I just think that having a 3D sculpture works better, for me at least.
