are you talking about like a "making of" video? If that's the case, then that will not be used for judging in any way.

otherwise, read over rule #4 more closely:

4.) Use any static, 2D visual medium to depict her (i.e. a drawing of it). Pixel-based sprites and renders of fully-textured, 3D models are also acceptable.

we do not want music, we do not want interesting ways to show a static image. All we want are image files. .png, .jpg, .gif, whatever. Just a single image file is fine. And those who want to do more drawings can do so. And if you want to write the text in the email or pop it in a .txt file and attach it, that's fine too.

Just calm down, stop fretting about breaking the rules, and do it. If we have a problem with your entry, then we will contact you about it personally. If you don't want to be disqualified, and you're unsure or worried about your entry, then there's an easy solution: DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY.

It's a website pretty much dedicated to character redesign contests. As far as I know they only do superheroes, but it's still a good place to look for inspiration. The best redesigns are the ones that take a character's core elements and make them fresh again, and that site has a ton of examples of that.

Does anyone know where I could find a picture file of Fusion Suit Samus from the start menu with the lines across the suit removed? I'm trying a hybrid of the Fusion and Varia Suits (I drew/scanned and am trying to "fix" and color it with GIMP) but it's not coming out quite right and I want to try manipulating the start screen images and see if I have any better luck with that.

Shinobi -- The Fusion menu has lines that cross the suit to show the areas receiving augmentation (suit, arm cannon, boots, etc.) See below.





From that image I did the best I could to remove the lines and dots and color the suit the way I think it should be. See below.





What do you think? I'm going to use this to help augment the Varia Suit sprite from the Super Metroid start menu. Maybe I'll post pictures after I submit it for the contest.

^Metroid. That's the best I can copy it because Kabutroid's has little unidentifiable characters where the "v"s are in mine.

I think I had a breakthrough with GIMP and may submit my original drawing as well as my sprite. Still needs a little retooling but I think by the end of the week I should have something worth submitting.

Anyone else having a lot of difficulty coming up with an arm cannon design? That thing is to Samus what the cape is to Batman, it pretty much is Samus.

Oddly enough, her other defining characteristic is the helmet and that was really easy to redesign.

I honestly didn't do anything to the arm cannon. Apparently I'm not creative enough to visually augment it.

By the way, my submission has been made.
