Official Nintendo Downloads: YOUR HELP NEEDED!

Hey all,
The European "Metroid Portal" that was just put up a few days ago got me thinking about how Nintendo got rid of their original official sites a while back, which in turn started to make my blood boil.

All is not lost, though, there are a few official Metroid sites still available. For example:
Metroid Fusion European Site
Metroid Prime European Site
Metroid Prime Hunters European Site
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption European Site
And then all the Japanese ones are still available. (of course )

If Nintendo keeps with this trend, these sites, which have a few things to download, will not be available after they are taken down. We are already in this situation with all the Official US sites.

We want to be the resource where people can get these downloads after they are gone for good.
We are in need of the following things:

• URLs to Archived Websites (Use the Wayback Machine)
• Official Desktop Wallpapers
• Official Buddy Icons
• Anything else worth noting, art, etc. (watermarked images are ok)

If you already have these downloaded in the past or have them backed up somewhere, please submit it here by uploading the file(s) to this thread. We do already have a few things, so check the Wallpapers page before submitting it here.

I had this:

It includes two official 1024x768 Zero Mission wallpapers. One was already available in the MDb as 1280x1024, and the other isn't in the page you posted. It also includes a Mother Brain wallpaper of the same size, which I'm not sure is official, but is pretty darn cool.

In 1920x1080, it includes one official Echoes wallpaper. I also added a bunch of wallpapers I made out of the extremely-high-resolution artwork released in E3'10 (which is in the MDb's gallery, but it's convenient for anyone who wants a quick wallpaper; the Bottle Ship one looks great on my PS3!).

I'm gonna dig a bit deeper in my PC to see if I find anything else. Hope it helps!


Edit: I found the official 1024x768 version of the same Echoes wallpaper. It's in the .rar.

The MB image could be a wallpaper, or just an official image, I'm not sure. And I wish we had higher res versions of the Metroid w/the rock wallpaper.
The rest are just cropped images of official artwork. We will place it on the page, though!

I was able to track down all the official MP2:E walls, so they will go up soon.

Googling, I found these images:

I found this on the Japanese Zero Mission site. There's a screensaver (which I think is nice for the MDb to store, too) and a wallpaper, but even that comes in a Japanese executable file that I don't understand.
And the Corruption site seems to have some bonuses, but we already have at least one of them. It seems you have to look for the tokens in the site to use them to "buy" the wallpapers. Japanese speakers, help!

Edit: it seems all those Corruption images added recently are from the Japanese site, so I think we have them all. There may be a screen saver, though.

Sweet! I saw that Kanden one before, but not the Noxus and Samus ones. Great job! I'm sure there were ones made of the rest of the Hunters as well, we just have to find them...
Also, I hope we can find the higher-res versions of the MZM walls that we don't have.

EDIT! YESSSS Found some more! Using URL guessing on the ngcfrance site, I was able to track down:
Kanden in 800, 1024, and 1280
Noxus in 800, 1024, and 1280
Spire in 800, 1024, and 1280

BTW, since that is a French site, I believe those wallpapers may have come from the official European Hunters site.



Edit: I found the Sylux, Trace and Weavel wallpapers in 800, 1024 and 1280 in the same site here. If my memory serves me right, now Samus is the only one missing of that collection of wallpapers (if she was ever available).

More edits: Here is a Samus wallpaper from First Hunt, and here is a Noxus wallpaper of the same style of that Samus one I posted earlier. I'll try to find more of these.

Moar: Here are two wallpapers in 800, 1024 and 1280: The Samus one from a few posts ago and one featuring all hunters. Apparently, there are three collections of Hunters wallpapers. Y'think it's one for JP, one for EU and one for NA?

HELL YES!!!! I was looking for those! I guess the URLs removed the 0's after it started with 11, so I couldn't find them.

EDIT: yeah it looks like MHQ has the Samus wallpaper. But the other Hunters aren't shown, even though they seem to have them on their server...

Yeah, that Noxus one proves it. The problem is that it's number 02800, so we're gonna have to do some serious URL guessing for these ones. I didn't have any more luck with those on Google.


Edit: Whoopsie, I found Spire! Apparently, the second digit is the hunter's number and the last three are the resolution. I'll post back on that.


Edit: Yup, that's definitely the pattern: Here are Noxus 1024 and Noxus 1280.

Yeah, I'll get the rest on the site in due time. All those are official, and yoinked right of the old official websites, so I doubt they'll mind if we host them too.

P.S. have you seen the hideous monstrosity that is the Amorbis wallpaper from MP2? The quality and artifacting on those images makes me sick to my stomach!
