Re: Metroid Database Bestiary Appreciation and Discussion Th

To anyone that reads this:
I'm looking for good feedback on a few things:

  • Did you know about the Zoom Feature? (click on the artwork) Was this something you just naturally figured out on your own? If not, how do you think this could be improved?
  • Did you know about the "How to Use" menu? (click on the ? icon located on the upper-left) If not, how do you think this could be improved?
  • Did you know clicking on the Main Header takes you back to the Main Index with the list of all the creatures? If not, how do you think this could be improved?
  • Any other suggestions/feedback on the way the GUI is presented. Either things that are confusing or difficult to understand.
Thanks in advance.

I found those things pretty intuitive, really. Maybe a small magnifying glass image next to the artwork could help, but I don't find it really necessary. The ? button and header seem natural to me.

Been digging through the bestiary library, and I must say great job.
There are so many creatures within the M universe it should be interesting.
Curious if any of the game production teams have glanced through it as well.

It seems part of the info section for the Geega would be better placed in the strategy tab, in my opinion. The "If you're not careful, a Geega can easily knock Samus into the harmful liquid while she's traversing through Kraid. It's best to just freeze them with your Ice Beam and move on. They are good for farming pickups." bit. Dunno if that is what would go in there, but it seems more related to strategy than info.

The Bestiary is awesome, and highly encourage all the work being put into it, but I would like to put up a suggestion for the bestiary that I was apparently not supposed to put on the Facebook page. ( :-? ) I think it would be highly convenient if there was a search bar for the MDb bestiary so that You don't need to scroll through the whole list in order to find the single entry you are trying to find information on. I am starting to learn a lot of the names of these creatures in Super Metroid, and occasionally find this to be slightly annoying, and will be even more so when there will be a lot more games filling up the bestiary. Please post your opinions on this, because I would really like to know if people will like this improvement enough to have it added into the bestiary's script.

Given the potential size of the Bestiary, a search function would be a major convenience. Or if not that, perhaps jump buttons within each category.

Also, maybe a screenshot for each? The artwork is amazing, but I'm having trouble remembering some of these creatures in the games. Maybe it's just me.

Yes, I have recommended that before too, and I think both would be much appreciated. In fact, I think the MDb team is actually working on adding a translucent picture of the creature the way it is seen in the game in the bottom-left corner of the picture, because I have seen them do that with the gray Zebesian on their DeviantArt page, and I hope they do add it to the rest of the entries. As for the search bar function, we would need to get the word out to more people to see what they think, and then just maybe, the MDb team will consider it. :metroid:

That was featured on MDb's DeviantArt page, but it's artist, AzakaChi-RD-17, was the one who uploaded it and decided to add the original sprite. So nope, that's not our plan.

Not sure if this is the right place to say this, but in the entry for the plant enemy that scattered spores in m2 it says there is only one of them in the game. Actually, there are two. I'm playing m2 right now and I noticed that.

Hey infinity, I found another error. It says you have to fight a type b core x for the gravity suit after you kill nightmare, but it is actually a type a. Just thought I would let you know
