Infinity's End wrote:Just did some slight updates to the forum icons (not smileys). You may have to refresh your browser to see the effect. You may notice the "attachment" icon as well as "view first unread post" icon in front of some of the topics now.
Also updated online/offline icons. Based on Metal Ridley's eye!
Nice work! I thought something looked different. I actually thought the online/offline icon was a dark morph ball before I read your post.

You know how we have those spaces in our profile for our Wii System #, PSN, XBL, Friend Codes, etc.?
We need one of those for the 12-digit 3DS Friend Codes.

Give'em a break, man. I'm sure they'll get that in as soon as they can.

I thought you guys had intentionally deactivated polls? I'm pretty sure I remember something of the sorts.
EDIT: Sorry, now I get what you mean. Yeah, they aren't working.

As things are configured right now, polls are disabled to standard users and this includes the ability to interact with polls created by admins. We'd basically have to grant group-wide permissions back to all users of the board in order for them to be able to properly interact with polls. Unfortunately our control isn't fine-grained enough to be able to disable creation yet enable interaction with polls.

Thanks for checking Jesse, but you're slightly incorrect there. We can't use the polls either... We can create them, sure, but we can't use them at all -- no one can. I tried making a test poll and it wouldn't let me use it either, so I think something else is amiss. Update - I even just gave everyone access to polls, but the polls are still not able to be used. I don't think it's just a matter of being a permissions/board setting thing, Jesse.

Be cool if news posts could be somehow linked to the forums so we can comment on them.

Yeah... I don't know about the rest of the staff but I'm certainly "anti-comments" atm. If other game news sites are an indication of how they go, they are usually riddled with things like immature/poor speech, terrible grammar, and spambots. Read Destructoid for 5 minutes and you'll catch my drift. If anyone wants to congratulate AU for his recent induction, feel free to make a post in the News Feedback Thread.

You could have a link to the News Feedback Thread at the bottom of each article. Just sayin'.

"Sorry but you cannot use search at this time. Please try again in a few minutes."
Everytime I try clicking new posts and stuff, I get this message so I have to click a bunch of times until I finally see what I want. It's getting on my nerves. Can something be done about it?

I think that's a bandwidth issue. Don't be so impatient.

No but it's like the doors in the Prime trilogy. They took so motherbrothering long to open so Retro fixed them in the Wii versions. Can that be done here?

I just enabled Topic/Post Icons in the MDb News, and Gen. Metroid Disc. Forums. Think of this as a "test."
