That was my issue with Heavy Rain... for a game all about story and character drama, they picked a shit story with shit characters...
Fuck no. These cutscenes are Other M-tier. A whole lotta words to say nothing.

No, don't do that. Metal Gear Solid 4 is a great game, even if it has way too many cutscenes. It was my first Metal Gear game and I really enjoyed it. I'd say you should at least give it a shot. I really enjoyed the story (after getting the hang of it, of course). In fact, it's one of the games in my collection that I want to play through again the most. But yeah, it's pretty love it or hate it, so you could end up not liking it much. Just be prepared for the day when you beat it because the ending cutscene is over an hour long. It was one of the few moments when a video game almost made me cry.

If you want a futuristic stealth game play the new deus ex instead. That has shitty storytelling too but at least there's less of it.

Indeed. I think it enhances it if you play the rest of the games, and understand how it got there. I'm going to endure the next part of Tales (Abyss) , because to be honest the story could've just ended, and I would have been fine, but I'll see what it has in store for me.

Or you can spend 2 dollars for the first deus ex game on steam, and have good storytelling and better (far better) role-playing.

Well, Naner, that's the beauty of GameFly... if I don't like it, I'll send it back within an hour of playing. Thanks for your input, and I'll at least give it a shot.
Meanwhile, I was going to rent Borderlands form GameFly but my friend said that was dumb and just let me borrow his copy. If I really like it I'll buy the GOTY edition with all the DLC. I'll start it tomorrow I think, take a little break from Xenoblade Chronicles.
Has anyone here beaten Xenoblade Chronicles yet, by the way?

No. I'm at level 53 or so and... is this really a spoiler? Oh well
on the Mechonis.
I think I'm nearing the end, but I checked and I still have a few more locations I haven't visited yet. Dang this is a long game, and I haven't even done any of the major side-quests yet

Which game are you referring to? Doc, I wouldn't really call it a spoiler. I'm nowhere near you and I figured I'd be venturing there, or they'd be saving it for a sequel. I am kind of intimidated by how much is left... At this rate I'll finish by Christmas haha

Exactly why you should at least give it a chance. As for myself... I'm at the Victory Road in Pokémon Black (I sure hope they change this up in the next gen... I've hated caves since Gen 1 and Victory Road is no exception) and I've played some more Mass Effect this weekend. I'm going to travel to the US in July and buy some more games there... Some that I'll probably purchase are Xenoblade Chronicles, Pikmin 2 (which is coming out for Wii for $20 next month), Rayman Origins (after much thought, I decided on the PS3 version), Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection and, perhaps, Pokémon Conquest. Oh, I also bought Knights of the Old Republic on Steam for $7.49. Gonna play that after finishing Mass Effect, I think.

Purchased ARMA 2 with the expansion pack, solely to play the mod, Day Z. Sounds awesome. http://www.dayzmod.com/Also no matter what the devs say I'm calling it Day Zed not Zee.

Would I be better off playing MGS3 instead of 4? I've heard that 3 is more of a sandbox game than a story game, but the 3ds demo was too short to get a feel for it.
