The next console legend of zelda game could be just three years away instead of five.

While this could lead to the game being a bit rushed, I also would like to mention that Wind Waker was developed in three years, and Majora's Mask in only one or two, so I'd expect that the next one will be less traditional and more evolutionary than even skyward sword was.

Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks were also developed quickly.

But you have to remember that Majora's Mask and Spirit Tracks were built around a previous game's engine, so the fast development cycle is understandable.

Has anyone done the Cawlin's Love Letter side quest? There are two outcomes, but the result is the same with both (5 gratitude crystals). Here's a video for those who want to see both outcomes:

Ya gotta feel sorry for Cawlin... both outcomes are just really down on the guy. ;_;

I tried both options out of curiosity, but ended up leaving it with the more haunting outcome. I felt guilty afterwards.

I beat the game back on Sunday, and true to the descriptions, this game is packed with content! It took me 40 hours to pass it, and I still have a huge amount of items to collect and fun side activities to keep me busy (unlike TP). Was hoping for more from the story and some of the characters, but overall, very impressed with the amount and variety of gameplay. :D I'd say more, but don't won't get too much into spoiler territory just yet.

Finally finished the game and only ever lost in combat once to that final enemy. Still, the battle is pretty epic :awesome: I personally preferred the penultimate battle, but it was still awesome.

Going to start hero mode and take it slow this time, maybe finish a few more sidequests and pick up a few things I neglected before (never even picked up the first bottle until after the sixth dungeon :P)

Overall, I'd have to say that this game claimed the slot on my list for favorite zelda gameplay, while Majora still has favorite story, and Wind Waker my favorite compositions, and Skyward Sword is definitely my favorite Zelda game that doesn't have nostalgia backing it up

Replying to a post from the "Waht are you playing" thread, which I though would be best served here:
Apothem wrote:@Naner: My problem with the harp was indeed tied to my faulty sensor bar. It wasn't able to properly read the strumming motions with it's large blind spot, so I was unable to keep time with the old hag and advance the plot. That no longer being an issue, my only problem with the harp now is that it's boring, and if it were used anymore frequently it'd be tedious to boot.
Yes, I also didn't like the harp. Unlike the Ocarina of Time, the Wind Waker or the Spirit Flute, it required no actual playing of the instrument, just strumming in the right tempo. Pretty lame.

The rest of the game is still awesome, though. However, I won't be playing it again for some time.

This game is great!

Except playing the harp (Spirit Flute and Ocarina were actually fun, the harp might as well be a button press)

Seriously, I might need to take some time for the novelty to wear off, but it might be up there with Majora's Mask as best Zelda game ever.

The spirit flute was awful. I prefer the harp over the flute, even though the harp is indeed lame but the flute was just terrible, blowing into my mic and moving some slider thing, no thanks, didn't want a pan pipe simulation in my zelda.

Crap like that...
Can't play a modern Zelda game without looking like a dork. I think Nintendo tries too hard sometimes.

Suddenly, I have much more respect for the ancient cistern because it turns out that the temple actually represents a legend within a Legend

Aside from that, G4 is holding a contest for game of the year, and I'd like to politely ask people to vote for skyward sword. Not because that's my vote and I think everyone should prefer it over its current competitor, Skyrim, but because this website/channel has bashed on the wii so many times, it would be amazing to see them have to announce it Game of the Year >:)

So...what do you all think?
As for me, I can totally agree on this, but as long if it's professional and amazing.
