I can understand that, but just for me there was just never really any Pokemon that I've outright hated. Even "Wotter" who seems to be getting a lot of hate right now, I personally think it's kinda cute.
I'm probably just too fanboyish over the series to hate any of them.

But that's the thing. It's too cute to be a pokémon, they just went a bit overboard with it, it doesn't look like a pokémon. Sure, there a pokémon that aim to be "cute-looking", but it really doesn't suit Wotter. Piglite and Smugleaf know what's happenin' though.
Fuck yeah, I'm so choosing Smugleaf.
More stuff is being released on Black and White.
I'm considering to stop playing Pokemon now, it's not like I hate it it's just well... I've been a dedicated Pokemon trainer ever since Red. I earn all the badges and collect all the Pokemon-- Now I see screen-shots of the new Pokemon game and it just doesn't sit right with me. It no longer feels like the same series. I don't know... I like Pokemon looking like animals rather then looking more devilish and monster like. Yes I'm completely aware that pokemon means 'pocket monsters' but... I don't know. It's hard for me to stare at the starters and think-- I have to pick one of those things to start off my journey... ;w;
If I do buy it, I'm taking the pig and naming it Gannon.
I started backing down on buying Pearl when it came out. But for some reason I did and liked it, maybe the same thing will happen if I buy this. It takes time to get adjusted to something new and different.
What are your thoughts on the game? Are you eager to buy it? Not really sure or have you stopped playing Pokemon altogether? If you do plan on buying it what version are you thinking about getting?

The thing is about Pokemon, it doesn't change.
New Generation
- 3 Starters - Professor Gives you Pokedex - You have a Rival - You get 8 badges - You beat Elite 4 and become Champion - There is some devious group that wants to do something bad somewhere and you take them out. - Capture legendary pokemon.
Not necessarily in that order but pretty much is the game right there. I have been playing since Red and Blue. But now, I just can't sit there and play what I have already played before.
Water for the win by the way. So if I were to get White or Black, (which i'm not), I would get Wotter as the starter.

I've found that over the years the same simple game play formula has grown stale, which is why I all but gave up on the series after Ruby & Saphire. I bought Diamond & Pearl, hoping to catch my younger brothers interest, as he had by then gotten into the pokemon games I already owned, but short of messing around with various pokemon and waiting for me to do all the work of catching / raising them he never showed much interest and as a result I finaly gave the series up.
I have played the Mystery Dungeon games, and I must say that the twist on the conventional formula is rather refreshing but still not my cup of tea. Black and White don't seem to be bringing anything new to the table other than some shoddy pseudo-3d pokemon sprites and other minor graphical changes, and I completely gave up on the pokemon designs after Gold & Silver, so at least I can spare myself some ~$30 and countless hours of monotony. Pokemon really is a testament to the old addage: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Random Query: Are "Black" and "White" the confirmed western release titles? It sounds silly to ask, but some of you may remember the Megaman Battle Network series of games, and how with the third instalment the Japanese releases were titled Black and White, while the Western releases were titled Blue and White. I don't suppose it really matters, but the Battle Network alteration never made a lick of sense, and it'd be interesting to see if Nintendo'd get all "P.C." raged like that again.

That's why I've come to like the two Gamecube RPGs and the Ranger games. Though the gameplay's weaker, I enjoy having an actual plot behind all the running and catching, something which Game Freak themselves can't seem to do.

I understand from where your coming from. I was just talking to my sister about this a yesterday. Were both a traditionalist for pokemon-- I especially love the normal 'version' games if you will, but my sister did tell me that she got more of an experience with playing Ranger. It's a different side the the pokemon games then what you'd normally get. I watched her play and I can say I liked some of those ideas, like riding on a pokemon in a race etc... if they incorporated these ideas into the normal version games then I think that might help. I also understand where Outlaw is coming from. Pokemon has that built in structure of gyms, dex, evil organizations that you have to beat. However-- it's hard to break from the mold and I'm not really complaining on that factor. It's more about where is series is headed. I wouldn't mind if HeartGold is my last game because I know I'd be satisfied. I guess I'm just tired of catching them all, and I don't want to see this game series that I and may gamers my generation grew up with be destroyed. Not saying the game will suck... but I'm just not into the newer pokemon and pokemon my friends are like 90% of the game. xD

what are you 12? real bro's remember getting Blue/Red. And watching the show and loving it.
No I'm not twelve. I remember watching the show and loving it, and watching my friends play pokemon and loving that as well. I never got to play pokemon until the 3rd gen games came out because my parents weren't keen on video games and didn't want me to waste away in my room exercising my thumbs on the control pad. However they gave in and I now love pokemon. But they may have been right, I do spend a lot of time on games now, and pokemon started that. -ChozoChild- wrote:More stuff is being released on Black and White.

My sister showed me the new starters and I've got to say they don't look good at all. But I am in love with playing pokemon, it's fun and although repetitious I guess that's one thing that makes it so good. I couldn't imagine playing pokemon any other way and without a doubt enjoying it. Also, if I dislike my starter, I can always ditch it and get a cooler pokemon later on.
Still to complete: Metroid Prime 2: disk is broken... Metroid Prime Hunters: Bored, but almost done Metroid prime corruption: In progress Super Metroid: Started

One thing I'm damned surprised about is that Nintendo / GameFreaks has never opted to take the series online. You'd think a Pokemon MMORPG would make bank. Just bundle all the lifeless, dull repetitious nonsense of the series people have come to know and love, hook'em up to a million other pissants who're into the same thing and force'em to pay monthy for the privilage of playing. It'd be like printing your own money!

They're all HIDEOU- *slaps self* COUGH-well... there are a FEW I find tolerable, design wise. Check out a big list here.Chillarmy is alright. Mamepato is pretty cute. But I'm really digging Rankurusu- I don't even know what the heck I'm looking at there. Same with Gochiruzeru- totally bizarre! Kibaru actually looks like a normal pokemon (art wise), so it gets a free pass. Wooguru looks pretty cool, and Gigaisu looks intriguing. The ugliness of luvdisc's evolution makes me want to cry, because I'm insane enough to sort of like luvdisk. (It's cute! It's a little kissy fish... smooch smooch!) The fawn looks too much like an Easter confection for my tastes, and if it evolves into stantler I'm going to maim people. UNLESS there an alt route where it evolves into a moose or something crazy. Swan is sort of neat, the mole is cute, even if the random colors on it look retarded. The bug is another freaking caterpie rip-o- oh, it's grass/bug. Maybe the worst typing on the planet? I'm actually not too good on calculating effectiveness when it comes to combination types, so I'm probably wrong.

I like Fire and Bug poke'mon so I like all their designs. Just wish the new bug wasn't bug/grass! I wonder what it'll evolve into...
Otherwise seribii seems to be getting news often enough about it. So now several towns are known in the game. And heck the game is released in Japan on September 18th, so I guess by the end of that month we'll know about most of them if not all of them!
