Re: E3You're right Outlaw; Valve should take another three years to make sure Half Life 2: Episode 3 is the best it can be. It will really push Source to the limits!

Re: E3@Apothem, as Outlaw already stated, Retro is first party. "Second Party" is a misnomer that unfortunately has made its way into the memes of the mainstream media and then, the world. The "Second Party" is the consumer. I'm really glad Nintendo had so much faith in Retro and trusted their judgement; I knew it felt a little fishy since they almost always have a "big reveal."

Re: E3
But then again why use an old engine? Since they are taking this long might as well be on a brand new engine! |
|
Re: E3Great! Once they get the silly ol' new engine all hammered out, then they can start fiddling around getting a working prototype build! Worth the wait~~~~~~

I agree! |

Re: E3
I found it extremely hilarious that you chose to say "hammered out" when talking about the Valve Engine... coincidence? ![]() |

Re: E3
It's true. But, being a Halo fan, but a much bigger Metroid fan, I must say... It's a great direction to go in. Playing more like Prime is never a bad thing. "I am tired of being under the weight of greedy men who don't believe in anything."

Re: E3I definitely am picking up some Metroid Prime-esque vibes from that gameplay, and with a somewhat legitimate reason since a few of Retro's staff did at some point jump shit over to 343i according to NeoGAF at least.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 better not suck...It just can't suck...

Re: E3Yeah. It would've completely turned the table if they had revealed the game, but, like we've discussed before, they probably knew it's not something we'll see very soon, so they decided to wait. I also have complete trust in Retro. I'll buy whatever comes out with their logo on the box without even thinking. In one case or another, I'm still getting a Wii U as close as possible to launch, when I find an acceptable price here in Brazil. Pikmin and Mario are enough for a pretty good first-party launch, and I'd rather play Assassin's Creed III on it than on my PS3. And the one other platform I had my eyes on - the PlayStation Vita - is looking pretty bad. |

Re: E3
Who the hell would anyone buy a Vita when you can have an iPad? Just doesn't make much sense to me. |
|
Re: E3The 3DS and Vita still offer generally better gamings experience because, y'know, buttons. And both are under half the price of a basic iPad. I really like the iPad, it's an awesome device for certain things, but it's just not what I and many other people see as an ideal gaming device.
The problem with the Vita is that it lacks games that aren't ports or spin-offs of PS3 ones. |

Re: E3The Real Question is.. why would I buy a PSP vita that is a wannabe Smartphone when I can get a cheaper Iphone that has games now almost equal to handhelds? Answer that one and you will find out why handhelds are doomed.
I think, I am just as shocked as most people are when they find out Samus is girl.

Re: E3
The "buttons" excuse is subjective. Just because you're used to one method doesn't make it inherently better. I played all the way through Shantae Risky's Revenge using my iPod and though it took some getting used to, I was able to beat it. (not an easy feat considering my ginormous thumbs) Other than Kid Icarus and possibly Mario 3D Land, the 3DS lacks a killer app. Plain and simple. I do admit the eShop and VC service has been nice, though. |

Re: E3
This depends on the user. I have two friends that I will use as examples. One owns an iPhone, and the other owns nothing. Both have asked me if they should buy a 3DS, and to each I have said no for several reasons. The one with the iPhone is tied to several games on his computer, and that's it. There is no reason for him to expand his horizons, and he has no time for it if he wanted to. He doesn't care for anything else, not even mobile. His iPhone is used for anything but gaming. The other one stays home all day, and rarely needs a cell, even. Both of these never grew up with a Gameboy or something similar. I however, did. As did my siblings. We all wanted something that could be played for long hours and not ten minutes and had physical buttons. They got two for their birthdays, and use them both constantly. What I'm saying here is it's all personal preference. That is why we have so many choices. It's not that any system is inherently better, but each one appeals to certain people. Is the iPad great? Yes. Would I bring it with me everywhere I go? No, but that's just me. How about gaming on the iPad? No, I need physical buttons, but again, that's just me. I see that you are enjoying your iPad, and I respect that. Just not my type of platform for gaming. MZM Hard mode 15% status: Complete
