Additionally, they aren't a third party, they're owned by Nintendo, so that'd make them, what, second party? Or do we just consider them first party? Regardless, Retro? Give us some goddamned information already!

Retro has been working on something very quietly for a while. A new metroid with online multiplayer to show off HD and online capabilities of the Wii U? This would certainly take long to achieve.

And yes, Halo 4 with the set designs, the music, the visors, and even a space pirate looking mofo is ultra metroid-esque. Nintendo has always had such a solid IP with Metroid I cant believe they dont push it more and more!

Pretty sure whatever it is Retro is working on has nothing to do with Metroid at all.

Or NOT. Retro had a decade with the series. I'm sure they've had MORE than enough of their fill. :/

As much as I'd love to see Retro tackle another Metroid game, I imagine they want to try new things still, as they've only made one non-Metroid title thus far, and collaborated on MK7. I'm sure they'll return to the franchise someday, but not right now...My money is on Star Fox for Wii U and maybe a DKCR followup on 3DS.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 better not suck...It just can't suck...

He's right though. Retro's next game might even be a new IP.

Another SPD/Team Ninja collaboration seems more likely right now than a new Metroid Prime.

Jeez. Does no one have a sense of humor? Comment was supposed to be comical, not literal

Yeah guys, he was just joking. :P

But yeah, we need to stop seeing Retro as the people who made Metroid Prime. Yeah, they made a few great Metroid games, but that shouldn't be all they make. Their next new game will probably be a new IP, or like it was teased "something everyone wants them to do".

I always thought Nintendo might hand them Star Fox. So that is what I was thinking.

Of course, I am sure you guys heard of that absurd rumor of a Star Fox-Metroid crossover game. Obviously, just from the sound of THAT, you can tell it is total bullshit.

Rumor is Retro's next game is for the 360/PS3 crowd, and that doesn't sound like Starfox to me.

Besides, wouldn't you rather have a Starfox made by Platinum games? They've even said that they really, really want to work on it.

Sorry. It's just that a lot of people assume we're getting a Metroid Prime 4 when what little we've heard from Retro implies otherwise.

Well then, a new IP sounds very likely then.

Platinum games doing a Star Fox would be pretty good.

While we are on the subject of different people making different things, they should let Jeremy Soule (Composer of Oblivion, Skyrim, KotOR music) do the music for the next Legend of Zelda. It is said he really wants to do music for some of Miyamoto's games. He also wants to do music for a Metroid game.

Finally caught up on a lot of the E3 stuff. Overall, the whole conference was underwhelming. Most of it was sequels, and I don't really hear much that was mind-blowing. But maybe I missed it.

While I don't have high hopes for WiiU, I know I'll likely be picking one up on launch day. I am a bit annoyed with NSMBU's art style though - everything looks flat, and the new designs just look odd. Does anyone else here think that?

I see a lot of interface and enemy similarities in Halo 4 with Metroid Prime, but the gameplay of both is still very different. Larger focus on smaller enemies though, but I don't think we'll see the wide variety of enemy types found in a Metroid game - just a half-dozen or so enemies that get reused throughout.

One big disappointment was to find The Last Guardian was MIA. Along with no new Metroid or Retro Studios title and just a bunch of sequels from everybody else, it looks like just a big year of hype. At least there are a few small treasures in there like Ni No Kuni (even if the game probably won't be as awesome as 'Studio Ghibli is making a game' sounds.

I wish Nintendo would stop with NSMB, I just don't find it that great.

You obviously didn't see Last of Us, Watch_Dogs, and Star Wars 1313, CapCom. When it comes to new games that are not sequels, those are the best E3 had.

I didn't expect a Metroid title, and if there was one it would have been for the 3DS IMO.

You guys hear about Beyond: Two Souls? Ellen Page is in it. As herself. Playing a character. But it's her body/face and voice.
Anyway. Seems to be like Heavy Rain if Heavy Rain was actually fun to play and not sad and depressing?

Overall, my impressions from E3 are a resounding "meh". And judging from a lot of what I've read, I'm not alone.

I heard about that. Hadn't seen the trailer yet. Maybe it's just me, but it give me a Silent Hill feeling. Anyway, I like Ellen Page; she's cool. Anybody else think the girl in Last of Us looks like her, too?

That game looks pretty interesting. I spent several months in Pittsburgh some time ago. I'll probably pick that up just to see it in ruins. Not that it isn't a great town. <3

The girl in Last of Us did look and sound like her but apparently they modified her face.

Not sure why, I love Ellen Page.
