Worst Moments of Game Rage

Years and years ago, when I played Runescape. I was in the wilderness and lost a whole lot of Dragon Armour... I was 12 I think, pretty sure I cried.

Oh dude, I feel your pain. But man, when I went to the wilderness I just went to scavenge so I avoided players. I didn't take ANYTHING valuable. I made it all the way to the back wall.

I know I swore at the TV quite a bit beating Echoes for the first time...

I don't break stuff when I rage, though. The worst rage I can think of was many many moons ago *strokes old man beard* playing Banjo-Kazooie on the N64. I was in Clinker's Cavern, which involves a lot of swimming (which has some unwritten video game rule about always being an absolute pain). There are 100 music notes in every level, and I had 96 of them. I was attempting to find the last four (four!) when I hopped out of the water, and a monster popped out of the wall and killed me dead. I was so pissed I turned the 64 off and never played it again. (Beat the sequel, though.)

Banjo-Kazooie has an autosave feature anyway, so there is still, to this day, a file with 96 notes in Clinker's Cavern.

By that logic, I'm an old man when I'm one of the youngest adults on the forum.

Anyways, I swore at Spider Guardian a lot too. I needed to relax before I could kill it, because Retro was asinine enough to position a Bomb Slot over a slope which required very steady hands to reach on the GCN version. xD

Oh dear, how have I gotten this far without mentioning MMOs? Warcraft would be my poison of choice (though I haven't played in ages). It's not usually the game that makes me want to punch babies, it's the player base. Which is why I did so much soloing, despite the point of the game being interaction.

Oh geez, speaking of MMOs, has anyone else here played Guild Wars? Specifically Factions? If so, you know the mission in which you have to kill those four celestial beings in order to become "Closer to the Stars?" Yeah, that was horrible for me. The last time I tried it I was in a party with a friend of mine who played a nuker (fire mage who deals ridiculous damage) and a few other random players, and we were actually doing pretty well. We had defeated three of the four celestial beings, and finally, when we were within fifty yards of the final one, the freaking MONK - yes, a MONK who can't fight worth crap - aggros it and gets annihilated. It then proceeds to kill everyone else except my friend, who revives a few of us, but we just die again, and finally he dies too. I was pissed. I haven't played the game since then.

I've heard they've nerfed that quest since then, but I'm not about to try it again.

You owe it to yourself to go back and play it one of these days! Clanker's Cavern is a bitch, but the rest of the game is so wonderful! At least give it another chance! (Banjo-Kazooie is my absolute favorite game, by the way, so it's kind of sad to see someone give up so early on in the game.)

If you have a 360, get it on the XBLA for 1200 points. It records your notes, so if you die with 96 you still have all 96 when you go back into the stage.

Speaking of MMO rage, I enjoy messing with Hordies in WoW.

I was on my Night Elf Rogue (My main is a human warrior), stealthed and wandering around when I saw a lowbie Troll priest fighting a few mobs.

She was getting beat up, so she started casting her Lesser Heal spell to survive. Being the nasty jerk I am, I used Distract to interrupt her spell casting, so the mobs killed her before she could heal herself.

Because the Distraction ability doesn't break stealth, the priest probably didn't know it was me. xD

I don't rage much, but I sometimes get over excited when I overcome a particularly challenging event. Whe I finally beat the Metroid Prime, in Metroid Prime(GCN), I literally jumped up and down, flinging my controller around, screaming "DIE, BITCH, DIE!!!" I was very happy.


Now, in your raging, be careful not to do this:

True, but people have been doing such things intentionally during a video game rage since the dawn of the videogame console.

People also do such things while applying the ol' fight-or-flight reflex. Meaning, playing a game, something sppoks them, and they fling their controllers at the screen/wall. Those are always such funny stories.

trying to beat the third tournament in XG2 had me in tears of rage.

i then proceeded to rip the cart from the control deck (still on) then proceeded to beat it while chanting "@*$%! @*$%! @*$%!" in time to the punches.
