Personally, I'm all for Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask being on the same cartridge, disc, or whatever format Nintendo is using. After all, an OoT remake would likely be the better seller of the two, and people who have only been aware of OoT will get the chance to be introduced to MM as well. Can it be done? WIll it happen? SHOULD it happen? WHY am I asking YOU all these questions? BECAUSE THIS IS A GAMING FORUM!
Considering that they nixed the Game Boy Advance slot with the DSi, I doubt they would all of a sudden re-add it with the 3DS. It would probably be simpler for Nintendo to just do a Virtual Console service for old Game Boy/Game Boy Advance games, especially since that would help introduce gamers to the games they missed out on the first time around. I, for one, would especially like to be able to play Link's Awakening and the Oracle games some day, and a 3DS Virtual Console system would be the only way for me to get access to them.

And the whole fact that they showed the damn thing WITHOUT A GAMEBOY SLOT, and many sites commented on the lack of said slot.

If I ever feel the urge to play a GBA game I'll just do it on my iTouch (Because there's an App for that).

Whenever I'm in the mood to play a GBA game, I play it on my DS. When I want a GameBoy/Color game, I play it on my GBA. Simple as that. As for the Zeldas in one cartridge, I'd still prefer many other 64 games stuck in there, too, but I guess this vision is more realistic.

Yeah, well I just got my DS right now. I've been thinking about getting another GBA, but Metroid 2 and Link's Awakening are really the only two games I must play again. Somehow I know if I get another GBA Nintendo is going to announce Virtual Handheld the very next month. So, I keep waiting.

The 3DS specific titles look to be PSP grade, maybe a tad better, which is grand as the 3d graphics on the DS are admittedly lacking, and this up turn would allow for greater multi-platform support, even giving the 3DS an edge, if it can indeed match or beat the PSP graphicly, with it's 3D presentation, all dependant upon it's effectiveness. As usual, it'll prove to be a sound purchase, the big question is wether to adapt early, or wait for the enevitable "slimmed down" model? For what it's worth, I vote early adaptation.

Blast from the past? It's definitely beyond the PSP, probably even beyond the Wii. The trailer that best shows this off is the Resident Evil trailer. Its graphics chip is already known, and it's got excellent shader capabilities, meaning graphics will fall somewhere between GC/Wii and current-gen levels.

Yeah, holy crap, it looks awesome. Makes the DS Chaos Theory look like crap- OH WAIT. yodanut wrote:Blast from the past? It's definitely beyond the PSP, probably even beyond the Wii. Yeah, the 3DS graphics are definitely a fair bit better than PSP. Just a couple comparisons... MGS Peace Walker MGS 3DS Yeah, both look really good, but the 3DS has a fair bit more polish, smoother textures, smoother geometry, et cetera... In all better looking. Amazing to see that mere handhelds are becoming just as advanced as console games.

The 3DS' largest graphical down side is its resolution. We can't have everything, though, can we?

Fairly old video from E3. I didn't know you get to pick your poison with the slider. I just assumed it was 3D or none at all. You can't really see it "in 3d" in the video, but you can see the other screen at work when the booth babe toys with the slider in her demonstration.
What we can see of the video is very good quality graphics output on the screen. Just a tech demo at this point, but the possibilities are eye-opening.
You can see Samus' Other M model briefly before the booth babe starts going on about the lenses, and boy did it look Wii quality. Hard to judge based on such a quick flash, but it did look amazing, especially for a handheld.

Wii quality Metroid on a handheld? <- Look, I'm drooling. Can you see it? I'm actually drooling.

Um, guys, better than Wii quality. Did no one see the links I posted?
Seriously, the 3DS GPU does things the Wii's graphics chip doesn't. Here, take a look:
In the right hands, games on this thing will be gorgeous.

Hm, that doesn't really tell us much. The first could easily be a pre-rendered cinematic, and the second is actually a very small scene (everything outside the porch is just a static texture on the skybox).

I don't think the first scene is pre-rendered. Judging by DS scenes, it would look way better if it was pre-rendered.
Satch's video is interesting. Either the booth babe was very nice or the guy was using a hidden camera, since Nintendo wasn't allowing people to film the screen(s).
One way or another, I can't wait to get my hands on this thing next year. The problem is chosing my first game with it (probably Uprising or Snake Eater 3D).
