Though the first one could be pre-rendered, it doesn't really look like it is. Notice the relatively low polygon counts on the guns and model hands, and the scattered low res textures. If it is pre-rendered, it's probably rendered to spec, and that means the 3DS can handle copious amounts of bump-mapping, self-shadowing, and per-pixel lighting in addition to rendering in stereo 3D. That's pretty damn awesome. The second one is just a tech demo, but it's designed showcases some of those shader capabilities as well. Let's face it, the Wii doesn't exactly stand out for its great shader support, so one thing these videos do tell us is that the 3Ds will do things the Wii doesn't.

Capcom confirmed that the Resident Evil trailer was "rendered in real time using the game engine." yodanut wrote:Let's face it, the Wii doesn't exactly stand out for its great shader support, so one thing these videos do tell us is that the 3Ds will do things the Wii doesn't.
Yeah, Masahiro Sakurai talked about this difference in an interview about Kid Icarus. Wired: With the 3DS being so powerful, the difference between making a console game on Wii and a portable game on 3DS doesn’t seem very big. Would you say that’s the case?
Sakurai: It’s not so much that you can consider the graphical quality to be different with the 3DS, it’s just that it’s a different direction entirely. Using shaders, that’s something that the 3DS excels at. And other screen-processing effects of that nature. Even though at this stage there’s still a lot of research to be done, and internal testing, I believe that there are a lot of areas that it will excel in that will push it in a different direction than what the Wii is capable of.

Eventually, the handheld and the console will combine and we will have one device that you can either plug into a TV and play like a console, or unplug it and play like a handheld.
Don't be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.

It'll be something like TRON, you go into the video game world. That'd be fricking sweet.

So far it's just Video Screens you hold up to your face. I have a pair of video glasses I got for Christmas, though I haven't touched them much. I planned on using them to play games, but it's blurry, and it plays really choppy. In the new house I might figure out some sort of setup where I'll have my Wii in my room and just use the video glasses for the Wii.

Rumor has it, (apparently from Reggie). That they may make A Link To The Past, and Yoshi's Island for the 3DS. Apparently he said it wouldn't be necessarily a "remake" they would add new content or whatnot.
TotG you mind verifying this?

I would gladly purchase both of them.
I'm gonna be so broke.

Of course, these are 2D games, and ALttP is a overhead view. I don't see how they can put much 3D in.

They'd just add depth. Things closer to the screen will actually look closer, things farther from the screen will actually look farther. Or maybe they'll completely revamp them and make them 2.5D (but 3D). I honestly have no clue, since I haven't heard of this until now.

It'd be awesome if they brought Super Metroid on it too.

I would definitely get Yoshi's Island, was one of my favorite games back on the SNES. Shame that Yoshi's Story sucked though.

I thought it was alright, but it was WAY to easy, and didn't carry the same charm as Yoshi's Island did, I thought.
