Re: Series that makes you cry the mostI'll admit to getting teary eyed at the end of Okami, because the ending was kinda sad, and the game was over. What an awesome game.

Re: Series that makes you cry the mostThe end of Castelvania: Order of Ecclessia made me cry.
When she was finally able to smile and saying goodbye to her brother.
I think I teared up for Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Probably Okami, too.
There was a scene in Wind Waker that really touched me-
when you finally gather all the knight's bracelets for Mako, and he weeps from happiness, pride, and nostalgia, because you've completed the quest he and his brother undertook so many years ago. Made me want to reach into the game and give the man a hug, I tell you.
![]()

Re: Series that makes you cry the most
Holy crap I need to play Wind Waker again. |

Re: Series that makes you cry the mostWelll...I don't think a game has ever, ever made me cry, but let's just post some emotional video game moments:
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. For Ico, the ending sequence. For SotC, the moment with the horse near the end. I don't like to spoil it, but that scene was really touching. Maybe it was because the horse felt so real for a video game character. Okami. The cutscene before the final final boss fight. Yeah, it was a bit cliche, but with the music...I felt like shedding a single, manly tear. Zelda: Majora's Mask. The entire game, seriously. This is the saddest and darkest Zelda there is. This might be a little weird, but... Super Mario Galaxy. I mean...yeah, it's a Mario game. It's not supposed to tell an emotionally gripping storyline. But it wasn't the main storyline that got to me. It was Rosalina's back story in the library. It was told like it was a kids' book. A really sad, touching kids' book. ![]()

Re: Series that makes you cry the mostI just replayed Wind Waker, and I completely forgot about the part at the end where
Link and Tetra are being carried up in bubbles, and Link reaches out to DNH, and DNH reaches out to him, but then pulls his hand away and ends up drowning (presumably). It was really sad when Link sailed away in KoRL, despite the fact that it is now just a boat.
And yes, Redwing, everyone needs to play Wind Waker again, or for the first time if they haven't already. I had completely forgotten just how beautiful that game is. And it even looked good on my HDTV, somehow. However, you might want to wait a bit in case they announce a NPC version. I didn't think about it and bought the original, so if they do announce it, I'll be angry. ![]()

Re: Series that makes you cry the mostTo respond to that:
I personally would suggest that DNH was a ghost to begin with, at least at the time WW takes place. If so, then he's not capable of drowning, being already dead.
But yes, there are dark, sad elements in Zelda games.
The title character sacrificed her life in Twilight Princess, too! She was resurrected in the end, but...
There is plenty of that sort of thing in LttP, too. |
|
Re: Series that makes you cry the most
Well, technically Midna is the true Twilight Princess. But really, I guess they both sort of are...
Also, I think it's weird that
a ghost can use the Triforce.
Not that I'm refuting your belief, I actually think you're probably right. It just seems odd. ![]()
|
|
Re: Series that makes you cry the mostYes, although,
while Midna may be the true Twilight Princess, Zelda is obviously the title character of the entire series!
LttP also has a very eye-watering ending, although in a happy way
as all of the awful things that happen to people in the game are undone.
|
|
Re: Series that makes you cry the mostThat is true.
By the way, has anyone mentioned Midna breaking the mirror yet? Because that was pretty emotional.
And I thought of something else - for some reason, the Super Mario 64 credits music. ![]()

Re: Series that makes you cry the mostNo - and the point is, there is quite a bit of this in Zelda! Metroid is not the only Nintendo franchise to have painful or eyewatering moments!
|
|
Re: Series that makes you cry the mostI wasn't aware that Metroid HAD eye-watering moments.
I got an "Aw, that sucks" feeling when the Hatchling sacrificed itself, but other than that... The ending of Hotel Dusk got me emotionally. Not the actual ending, but the time right beforehand, where you say good-bye to all of the characters for the very last time. The music playing really gets ya down.

Re: Series that makes you cry the mostWhile we're on the subject of that general type of game, Trace Memory had some touching moments.
Like when you find out Bill is just a sad, misunderstood guy. That, um, just happened to murder Ashley's mother. Or like at the end when D just has to stay there as a ghost without actually figuring anything out.
And the song makes it even more emotional... I don't even remember what it was called. Blue Moon, or something.
Even StarFox 64 had some parts that made me cry - like when Andrew (that was Andross' nephew's name, right?) opens his stupidass mouth. ![]()

Re: Series that makes you cry the mostThere is a way to make D at peace, actually.
It's a bullshit way, but you have to examine EVERYTHING connected with his memories. That pretty much means having to examine nearly everything in the game looking for the right objects to examine. And yeah, Bill... Is he misunderstood? Or just a huge douchebag. The way he leaves the game is kinda tragic. Ashley is still an idiot
for not being able to tell quite obviously that Bill is NOT her father.
Re: Series that makes you cry the most
Ooh... that means I'll have to replay it. Not that I mind, really. Here I was thinking that I would have to wait for TM2 on the Wii to see what happens with D. I'll still be waiting anxiously though. Hopefully it'll be a lot longer.
I think he became a douchebag because he was misunderstood. So I guess that can be considered tragic. And yes, Ashley is pretty dumb. Although it seems odd that she can solve all those puzzles and still be so oblivious. ![]()
