Even if the screen has tactile feedback, there is the big issue that you can't feel the buttons without pressing them. If the idea were to make custom controllers for each game, you'd have to spend a long while getting used to each scheme without having to look at the screen.
Also: shoulder buttons.

Nah, I think not even Nintendo would be crazy enough to do that. Remember there were some rumors the Wii U would be like that, but Reggie (or was it Iwata?) said that buttons aren't going anywhere. Also, is there a pressure-sensitive touch screen yet? I guess that could be useful for gaming. EDIT: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/09/sony ... -hopes-to/This is from over a year ago. You think the Vita might use that?

If only they would.... I am going to say a good bye to Console gaming except for certain games like Metroid. When you want to bulid a pc for Battlefield 3 in all its glory it is kind of hard to see a reason to play on any other gaming machine. The Wii U could be good but I am not getting it for third parties games(get those on steam sales)when a good PC already beats it and it has not come out yet. Yes its more expensive but the cost per game is a A LOT less thanks to sales and good indie games. Really, Nintendo is going to have to up its game to beat the next gen consoles and the returning Giant of PC gaming. Big N will get my money when the next Metroid is out and is up to the standard of MODERN GAMES. That means they better make an epic game with pretty much everything a good AAA title has(story, game-play, graphics, atmosphere, and more)

I didn't see this posted elsewhere, but here's some really good, metroidy, off-screen footage of Battle Mii from NWR:
You can apparently collect a Samus helmet during the flight sequence which takes place on the Wii U controller's screen.

Just watch, the Why Youuu!?'s successor will be a pure touch tablet with motion sensors and a camera. There will be no face buttons, there will be no analog stick, there will be no circle pads, only a touch surface and simulated controls. (Insert evil laughter.)
I would so boycott them if that were to happen. No matter the tech, no matter the graphics capabilities, no matter even if it has glasses-free 3D on the controller screen... NOTHING WILL EVER COMPARE TO AN OLD-FASHIONED BUTTON. NOTHING EVER.

nikporwal wrote:The Nintendo Style Guide refers to the console as "simply Wii, not Nintendo Wii", making it the first home console Nintendo has marketed outside of Japan without the company name featured in its trademark. While "Wiis" is a commonly used pluralization of the console, Nintendo has stated that the official plural form is "Wii systems" or "Wii consoles." Nintendo's spelling of "Wii" with two lower-case "i" characters is meant to resemble two people standing side by side, representing players gathering together, as well as to represent the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The company has given many reasons for this choice of name since the announcement; however, the best known is: “ Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion.
You copy pasted that from the Wii's Wikipedia article. You used it without context, you didn't give your source credit...SPAMMER!

Dare we hope Nintendo starts publishing multi-platform?

I don't mind Nintendo game are on Nintendo consoles its that they just do not push Metriod as far as they could. Metriod could be very good, gritty, and atmospheric games that allow hacking, sneaking, strait up gun fights, 2-D(or Other M's 3-D) ninja movement, open world exploration, and a lot more. What I want is for them to make it metroid equal in quality(graphics, world, story, new gameplay mechanics) and story to what is put into other game series say like Uncharted, Mass Effect, Bioshock, and Witcher. Metroid prime was in the right direction with totally new Gameplay than the classic games but felt metriod. Corruption refined it but the basics of how prime was played ....never changed. Just little stuff here and there added or refined. I guess what I am trying to say it I see many game series make leaps and bounds with how they have changed and given more to the player(story, graphics, more better gameplay options, etc, etc) and I look at Metroid and see its just lagging behind. Metriod prime was revolutionary game for its time but this is 2011. I am expecting a lot more out of new release given the tools and talent that is out there. I feel Nintendo just does not have the skills to do a Modern Metroid compared to Zelda or Mario. They are just not willing to risk push metroid as hard as it should be pushed even though it is and could be thee Sci-Fi action adveture game. The dots are not lining up....(in my head at least.)for a good new refreshing ride in the powersuit.

It's funny how nobody ever confirmed the Wii U's codename to be Café. I guess we'll have to wait until it's released to see if the hardware code is CAF, like the Wii's is RVL (from Revolution) and the GameCube's is DOL (from Dolphin).

I believe this is the best thread to post this. Remember a few weeks ago when Nintendo of Europe released a new Wii, designed to sit horizontally instead of vertically and which doesn't support GameCube controllers and games? Remember when Nintendo of America said they had no plans to bring that model to America? http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail ... EaxXOuXwibYeah... NOA never plans anything, it seems. However, they'll keep the current model, while NOE is only selling the new one now, I think.

This seems that it's just the exact same Wii, but without a stand...If it DOES have anything different, and it it IS(i highly doubt this) the Wii U, thats.....really not what I expected.

I think it's more they wanted to keep things hush hush than anything.
Even the strongest of people can have their faith broken. Mine has.
