And one friend asked me about that Other M screenshot because, according to him, the graphics were too good to be a Nintendo game.
Really? When I show people screenshots of Other M running in Dolphin they say it looks like a 2004-era PC game. HD doesn't really do that game any favors. Cartoony games looks fantastic but the more realistic stuff has a long way to go.

Yeah, that picture linked doesn't look anything special, you can still see how low poly the model is and as pointed out the low resolution texture maps are a dead give away.

Sure, if you show more environments and characters, it'll be obvious. But in that particular screen, just Samus' suit is seen, and that's really well-made. If you didn't pay much attention to the background and such, it'll seem to look much better than it actually does. Especially if you look at it right after Prime's screenshot. And he wasn't really a gamer like us who spend hours looking at screenshots and analyzing if a pixel looks better in one or the other.

So yeah there's goign to be a Metroid-themed "ride" in Nintendoland. Most likely it's going to be Battle Mii. Also keen eyed people might have spotted a giant Meta Ridley in the footage they showed. Pretty awesome. I'm very excited!
The moment we have footage and screenshots we will add them on the site.

That's great. I was trying to get some screenshots while it was happening... but the video was moving too fast for my screen.

Bwahahaha, good times. Considering they're having a Mario game at launch I'd be surprised if it doesn't print money.

I got screens of the video up on the main page. It's a royal pain in the ass to capture them b/c the video is just streaming and you can't download a local copy. I also dug up the old news post where Eguchi mentioned Metroid at last year's E3. They were working on Nintendo Land this whole time!

I just want to hook the controller up to my computer. That's all I see out of the Wii U until they come out with a Metroid.

There was a short bit of it in Nintendoland, IIRC. But That's it. I'm really looking forward to ZombiU too though. That was hilarious part in the E3.

Yeah, there was a glimpse of Ridley. But we want an actual game. Nintendoland looks stupid, and won't sell on its own. Needs to be bundled in, like Wii Sports.

Objection. Though I agree that including it in a bundle would probably be for the best, it sure looks much better than most Wii-something titles from last gen. Even if it's still Mii-based and family-oriented, the games are much closer to actual experiences. The Zelda and Metroid ones, for example, look quite cool, and I think I'll spend quite some time playing it once I get my Wii U (if it comes bundled... if not, I'll be playing Pikmin and Rayman). And yeah, hooking up that controller to a PC is going to be awesome.

That's the problem right there. It looks better than other Wii-(x) games, but can't compete with a standalone IP with a campaign, characters, story, etc. It's still a casual game. Shoving feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken; including Nintendo characters in a collection of mini games showcasing features does not make it an individually worthwhile game.
