PC Metroidvania List on Tumblr

Postby zolointo » 05.19.13 3:02pm

Afternoon all,

I maintain http://metroidvanias.tumblr.com which is a list of Metroidvania-style games, and other games enjoyable to MV fans, available on PC.

Come on over if you're looking to find something to waste the rest of your weekend on! Click the #released tag to start downloading stuff asap, or the #indevelopment tag to see what's cooking in 2013.

* I know some don't like the MV word, but it's what I went with
* Not everything on the list will fit into your personal definition of MV, but I'm hoping you'll allow those few offences to pass

Thanks for joining our site. While this is very little more than an advertisement, I'm going to let it slide since it's pretty relevant.
I had actually thought about making my own "metroidvania" site but that takes a lot of time... we'll see.
The site has a lot of good ideas, but I really don't like the format of tumblr. I encourage you to say a little bit more about each game, instead of just posting images and links.

We also have this thread
and there's also this website.

Anyone who's trying to promote the genre is okay in my book.

I went with a Tumblr due to low upkeep. I would much prefer to see it in a wiki/DB format but don't have the urge to maintain anything more complicated at the moment... I'll leave that to you guyses.

I'm veering away from providing any commentary except for instances where I have positive things to say. I'd rather do pic+link+vid posts in order to help others find stuff that catches their eye. There are a number of games on my list that I despise, but negative write-ups I've done in the past got some nasty glares.

As for SPK's vgmuseum site, it was definitely a point of reference. I've swapped notes with him a few times in the past.

Anyhow, thanks for not nuking the thread. I'm not dying for more viewers or anything... more hopeful of getting notifications of way-way-underground fan projects that might be in the works.
