LOL what a silly argument. Everyone knows number 1 is the best :D

But really, both of them are well done. In terms of Villains though, ya don't get much of aback story out of Kefka, whereas Sephiroth has a whole history.
FF6 has the most playable characters of any of the games, but each one represents a different class which is why they are so unique. What I mean is in FFV you had 4 (five if counting Clara) playable characters that can change to many different jobs, the same can be said for FFIII.

I like both of them pretty well so I can't say one is better than the other

Sephi only has an entire history because of the insane amount of spin-offs to FFVII there has been.

There have been NO spin-offs to FFVI, therefore, we only get what we know about the characters from the game.

I disagree with that. The FFVII spin offs add near to nothing about sephiroth's story. Everything that we know from him comes straight from the original story. Dirge of cerberus might mention sephiroth once, advent children has sephiroth show up at the last like 5 minutes and doesn't reveal anything about his past, and crisis core centers more around Zack and his story. Non of those spin offs tells anything about sephiroth we didn't already know.

Well, I can say that they both have horrible translations. I think FF6 is the better of the two by just a little bit. The story is more understandable and the gameplay is harder than 7.

I haven't played Crisis Core but I imagine it would tell a lot more about Sephiroth than what you allude to.

Final Fantasy VI beats VII, hands down at least in my opinion. Any decent writer can make a story involving a vendetta, but the complexity of FFVI requires a lot more skill than the revenge motive. The characters, while not all of them were completely developed, were more likeable than Cloud. Tying together 15 or 16 characters in a single story is very difficult to pull off.

Each of the games had their easy path. VI had Ultima and VII had Knights of the Round, though it was difficult to get. The non-linearity and the talents of VI characters attracts my attention more than the shadowy connections between hero and villain.

I am biased because IV introduced me to FF and VI perfected the series. Beginning with VII, the FF series started to move away from the "fantasy" elements and focus on mechanical and technological of modernity. VI's Magitek blended the two to perfection.

Well, VI had a little bit of technology, but it was more steam and gunpowder age. As such, it has a little bit of 'steampunk' feel to it (though that term wasn't really invented then). And some of the technology, like Magitech Armor and the wooden airships seemed to be powered by magic. There was also a bit of genetic engineering going on in the factory, but nothing like what was in VII. VII was all electro-mechanical and bio-mechanical and the technology was much more advanced than today's. So while VI isn't really technological, I think if you look at it, it's a step in-between the strict sword and sorcery of the earlier ones to the tech and sorcery of later games.

I know that is what I was saying. The Magitek armors and the wooden airships did a better job of creating atmosphere in my opinion. To me, the advanced technology of the later games hurt the stories. That is just my take on it. VII is a good game in its own right, but my favorite is VI.

You'd think so but maybe if it did add anything to sephiroth I might actually like that game. The entire story is about another guy which is pretty much a sephiroth wannabe... He's so stupid I actually don't even remember his name... I think you see sephiroth around 4-6 times in the game. He's just an extra character and you don't get any more information about his past. Just a lame version of the FFVII flash back that cloud has.
