Re: Best (ie your favorite) Boss Music? Some Genesis boss music for your perusal:
From Phantasy Star IV, which I'll probably venture and say is the best RPG on the Genesis. Pretty grungy heavy stuff for the genesis sound chip. Speaking of heavy metal on the sega genesis, Thunder Force IV is worthy of mention: Mmm mm mm. Sometimes you really can't replicate the FM chip on the Sega Genesis. The Super Nintendo certainly couldn't get the same type of sound, despite being a sampling soundchip. I mean, people like the Follin brothers and some of Ocean's composers could really explore the range of things possible with the SPC soundchip, but sometimes, nothing beats a good FM sega genesis track. Yuzo Koshiro's work on the Streets of Rage series also showcases some excellent FM manipulation: Hells yeah, 16bit house music! I'm no Segite, but I've come in recent years to really appreciate the Sega Genesis and the Turbo-Grafx's soundchips a lot more than I have ever really. I mean, we all know and love the Sonic series music, but the YM2612 had a lot going for it, if the people behind the programming knew what they were doing.

Re: Best (ie your favorite) Boss Music?Personally, I like the laid back approach these two games took to boss music:

Re: Best (ie your favorite) Boss Music?I particularly enjoyed the battle music against the eel boss in Twilight Princess. Reminded me on some levels of Shadow of the Colossus music, which I also thought was cool.

Re: Best (ie your favorite) Boss Music?Well, I just finished playing Darius Burst, and I'd like to say; if you don't think Hello 31337 isn't one of the best boss themes you've ever heard then you have terrible opinions.

Re: Best (ie your favorite) Boss Music?Bombastic Orchestra? Check. Awesome Guitar solos everywhere? Check. Music that just gets your adrenaline pumped for the final battle? Check, Check, and Check. Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we have a winner But in all seriousness, imo probably one of the best final boss themes you can have for an Action hack-and-slash. For those who love VGM music, I would heavily recommend Ys The Oath in Felghana music. "Cut! There are no second chances for actors that fall to the abyss.
