Wasn't Retro under heavy supervision from Nintendo when the first Metroid Prime was being developed? Nintendo could handle the gameplay aspects and Retro the aesthetics.

I think Melee may have gotten me somewhat interested in F-Zero after I'd pretty much forgotten about it since F-Zero X. I think the Big Blue stage did F-Zero some justice since you get a better picture about the speed and the scenery going topsy-turvy. Got me curious enough to look up videos of the GC F-Zero game and it looks pretty awesome. Too bad they didn't sell the game anymore at the time.

Sure, how the series are presented is one thing but the rest is up to the beholder. Thinking about it, the devs would do well to provide different perspectives to each series.

Sorry if someone brought this up already but a I just need to say my thoughts on this subject. Super Smash Bros. isn't harming any of the series the game is associated with. Super Smash Bros. helps the games, if it doesn't usually it doesn't affect the games at all. SSB helps games by introducing players to the characters of games they never heard of, (The Fire Emblem series might have stayed a Japan only series if not for Melee. Many people had never heard about EarthBound before Ness was included in SSB.) If you main a character in Super Smash Bros. there's a chance that you might become interested in the series they come from. (For me personally I would have never played a Fire Emblem game if I didn't play Roy in Melee and main Ike in Brawl. Using Peach got me interested in Mario games again, and when I started playing Kirby I started playing Kirby games again. I would never have gotten into Metroid if My brother didn't main Samus in Melee.) It's true that not everyone gets into the games their favorite character comes from, but when people do it helps the series. It's also true that some people may hate a certain character so much that the refuse to by their games, (I've heard that some people refuse to by Kirby games because of Meta Knight) but that doesn't happen often. Super Smash Bros Brawl is the reason that the Kid Icarus series is getting a series reboot. Super Smash Bros. in a way is kinda like an advertisement for the games it features, people gain knowledge about different series and may or may not become interested in said series. New fans for a series is alway a good thing, even if it just one or two.
