Format suggestionIt's a detail, but it would be better if the manga was showed page by page rather than in a double page format. Because of the right to left Japanese reading, it's excessively annoying to view correctly.

One reason is because there are roughly 200 images in double-page format. To edit all of these images and do it right would take multiple hours. We will still have two pages in the comic viewer, but you will simply have to get used to the fact that manga read right to left, and there's no way that even by doing it one page at a time you could fix this problem simply because the panels themselves would still read right to left. So breaking them up into individual pages actually wouldn't fix the problem. Sure, you could mirror all the pages, but then Samus's gun would be on her left arm, and people would complain about that, too.
In any case, if you go to the store and pick up a manga, a lot of them will read right to left. I know Shounen Jump does this, and the panel format is probably why. You'll just have to get used to reading it right to left. The sleep of Reason produces monsters.

It's very important to note that it's important that the filenames use a consistent naming scheme that they are in numeric and/or alphabetical order. So important, in fact, that I use the word "important" redundantly.
If the manga scan is directly edited and translated ("scanlated") then that would be a good time to crop it into individual pages. Keep that naming scheme in mind, and the page-flipper I'm making will work perfectly. BTW, it will continue the right-to-left theme, so you'll have to click the left arrow to flip to the next page. We'll be sure to make note of that. -Jesse D

You got me wrong. Reading from right to left is not a problem at all. Hell, I read mangas since I am a kid and I deal with right to left reading naturally. I am not asking for a reversing of the images at all.
What is excessively annoying is the fact that for each page I have to side scroll to the right, scroll down, scroll up, scroll back to the left and scroll down again. at least with a normal screen. Like I said it's just an annoying tidbit, but multiply that by the numbers of pages and it become fast unnerving. Single pages on the other hand allow to just use the middle wheel of the mouse which is much more comfy. Last edited by GUIGUI on 11.20.07 11:04am, edited 3 times in total.

Call me Mr. picky, but I hate to resize images and I like to view them at their original sizes. Reducing generally kill the quality too much. (that and once it will be trasnlated, it may render the text unreadable)

I had the same minor scrolling issue, and was surprzed that the original poster went misunderstood for so long. It isn't a huge problem, but their are benefits to using single pages. I find it easier to take in the art, less likely to speed through something on accident, and the possibility of spoiling something 2 pages ahead is removed.
It isn't a big deal, if the layout doesn't permit it, but single-page does allow for easier implementation of higher resolution, if it is available. |

We'll take formatting into full consideration after we get the text translated. If single pages is the best way to do it, that's how we'll do it. Bear in mind though there can be some images that are on two pages (not sure if there are any in the Japanese, but in some of our US comics there are). As such it wouldn't make much sense to split them.

the group only does single pages so they will break it up if necessary. And yes Japanese manga does do two pager's Gunsmith Cat's had quite a few for there series, for these, don't know how the group handles them.
Once translated and though, they will be hosting it for release. What you do with it when you download it is all you; however, I would recommend posting there link to the file on the DB, one it will allow people to check out there other stuff and keep the bandwidth low on the DB's side for when it is getting DL'ed. More then likely (not 100% sure but they will probably host it as a Bittorrent file but don't quote me on that. "I authorize full use of the Report Button on the MDb Message Boards." |

That make perfect sens. Thanks for the consideration. "Do some damages!"
