You're very welcome, and I apologize if I came across too harshly in my criticism. I certainly did not mean to insult either you or the translation group in any way, and as I said before, I am very grateful that this translation even exists. :D

But man the fonts and the honorifics bug me. x_x

I'm grateful that it was translated at all, but it boggles my mind how no one seems to be complaining about--at the very least--the stupid use of honorifics.
Oh, there was discussion about this. LOTS of discussion indeed. ;)

yes there was a long drawn out discussion.

bottom line is, it's determined by personal preference. I've seen official publishers do it and I've seen most not do it. But I didn't feel like dredging up that argument again. I always fall back and say, if you want something better, do it yourself. Not everyone does things the same way and I still regret doing that blasted thing sometimes.

Ok... I'll tell you step-by-step.

1: Go to the main 'home' page. http://www.metroid-database.com/

2: Look at the left ( <- ) side.

3. Look under the Metroid Database sign

4. Now see that still ' :s-logo:' symbol and the text that read 'Comics and Manga'. --That's the button.

I hope that helped you.

"It's the head of Mini-Boss Hideout II. It jumps up into the air and breathes fire. It's the original life form of the planet Zebes and is controlled by Mother Brain. Destroy it and you win 75 missile blasts!!!"

I think I may now understand this. If the original Japanese text instead said "Zebesian" instead of "life form of the planet Zebes," then this was kept into the current canon. We know from the manga that Zebesians are Pirates that have undergone the transgenic process that first allowed Samus to survive on Zebes with Chozo DNA. Ridley had already done this by the time Samus made landfall on the planet. Thus, it seems he may have been "the original Zebesian."

The word used to describe Ridley in the Japanese manual is 先住 (senjuu) which basically means "one who has lived there before others", i.e. aboriginal, indigenous, native-born. So the English manual translation of "the original lifeform of planet Zebes" isn't correct really, as "original" suggests "the first". Basically, in the Japanese, he's native to Zebes. There were no 'Zebesians' in the original - that was all added in Super Metroid.

Ridley is insane in the manga.

I remember that one panel where he told Samus he ate her mom or something. That was so creepy, it sent a chill down my spine.

ScrewAttack.com just made a video summarizing Volume 1 of this manga. So that others can watch the video if interested, and if those in charge of MDB want to do anything about this, I thought I'd post this somewhere. Here's the video:

I honestly did not expect this to happen, nice to see a Metroid manga get some recognition. I hope they cover Samus & Joey, because they will most likely cover Volume 2 of this manga in the next video in this series.

Nice to see some exposure.

But the narrator is kind of obnoxious.

My thoughts exactly. Although, the video doesn't seem to act like it will give people the desire to read it, just a summary so people don't need to read it, but they know it exists. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.

What's even funnier in the comments section is that people who have obviously not read the manga are still using it to try to one-up people in arguments.

wow, I just wanted to punch that narrator from the start. Though with it's coverage, it may bring more people here who are interested.

Always nice to see your work out there though :P Those were the good ole' days lol

Would've been nice if we could have been credited (or at least Snoopycool for their scanlation) because you know they got that manga right from our site.
