Need help on the way to Sector 1

I'm at the part where the water level keeps raising and lowering, and im on a platform. There is a wall in front of me when it rises to the top, and I don't know how to proceed.

There is a another wall right behind the wall with the charge receptor. You have to jump towards that back wall at just the right time to be able to wall jump between the two.

HAHA I KNEW it wouldn't be long until someone posted about this.
I was stuck on that shit for at least a half hour. It's not because it's difficult, it's just poor level design, imo. The game does not depict in any way that you can wall jump up there at all. There should have been a camera angle shift or something. And add to the fact it's a darkly-lit room and hard to see.

I have to disagree with it being poor level design. I'm glad they didn't put in a camera angle shift. I'm really opposed to those in Metroid games specifically and any games in general. I was stuck there for a while too, but I think it's great level design. It was one of the few environmental challenges in the game I enjoyed. There was so much tension with the shifting water level and the noise it made. Yeah, it was frustrating as hell being stuck, but when you figure it out on your own it feels so good to escape.

I never got the feeling that there was some sadistic level designer somewhere rubbing his hands in maniacal glee thinking "oh people of the world, just try to escape my devious water room trap".

Agreed. It took me a few minutes, but I really enjoyed that part.
