1st ending: 7:41:14, 58% items.
2nd ending: 10:12:53, 100% items.

A bit shorter than I expected, but still highly entertaining. Items were pretty well hidden, but with fairly repetitive methods (Shinespark upward in a hallway really wore thin quickly).

First ending = About 9 1/2 hours with 54%
Second ending = 12:59:58 with 100%

I'm on my hard run now, just did the Sector 2 lift in less than 10 attempts!

Replayed it on Normal again to see the lowest possible %.

I beat it with a time of 5:26 with 3% item collection.

-One energy tank blocks your path in a mandatory tube.

-One missile tank blocks your path in another mandatory tube.

-A second energy tank must be collected for a door to become unlocked.

Grrr...

And Phantoon is much more fun with only 2 energy tanks and 11 missiles. :awesome:

I played it on hard and normal.

Normal was about 12:36/100%. I didn't check my time without, but I think it might have been about 8 hours.

Hard mode is something like 5 hours. It doesn't give you a final time in the stats screen. I think speedruns might hover somewhere around the 4, 4:30 range.

After the Hard mode, I think a low% run would be pretty easy. Though I'd prefer more energy tanks.

My first ending was something bad I don't remember. Second was 10:47 with 100%. Hard mode took me 4:30-ish.

This game was an adequate use of 15 hours of my life. It's just a shame so few of those hours contained Melissa.

It it weren't for the cutscenes adding their time, even when skipped, I'd have a sub 3 hour on my low% run on normal, including the true ending.. :/

right now it's currently like 4:20 or something..

Whoa, are we talking game clock or real time? I, like most others, have been able to get it under the 4:30 mark and I do think that it might be possible to shave it down to under 4 hours with the use of some of those morph ball bomb tricks. However, 3 hours seems a little extreme. It would be freaken awesome though.

If you beat the game in less than three hours, does Choogle take off his helmet?

Well real time is obvious, but it's kind of hard to have a feeling of satisfaction when the game goes out of it's way to disagree with you.

I mean if you skip the first cutscene and the finish the trainign seqment, the game will automatically save with you at the ship. But if you shut the game off and restart you'll see 10 minute have been added to your clock, when training doesn't take nearly that long. Then if you go from there tot he first save room, still skipping cutscenes your time on the game clock will be about 20 or so minutes. So on and so forth with each cutscene.

Real time doesn't matter when it comes to records. What annoys me is no other game in the series did this. Hell Twilight princess has a crap load of cutscenes and they don't added to the time either. Up until now all the metroid games stopped the game clock when control of Samus was taken away. (even zero mission stopped the cock)

I like doing speed runs, low% and 100% so this whole time thing annoys me. :/

Metroid Other M, without cutscenes can likely be done sub 2 real time.

Probably because the game is so short to begin with, so they made the cutscenes count to artificially make the game look longer. Still, its not like they were going to get away with it considering that it is a Metroid game. All they ended up doing was pissing off us speed runners.

Just did hard in about 4:30 gameclock time. The only parts that really kicked my @$$ were Ridley and Nightmare.

This was my third time playing through the game, and I skipped the cutscenes and was kindof rushing through. I have to say it's much less enjoyable to play this way.
