I'm also assuming it was just very large for its species. I just hope I don't meet up with any scorpions or tarantulas any time soon. The mosquitos here are bad enough! (they can get up to 4-5 inches long)

Remind me to never live in Texas.
I FUCKING HATE ARTHROPODS!!

OMG The resurrection of the NAME THAT BUG THREAD!!!

This was crawling around my kitchen this morning. It was VERY tiny -- only about an inch long. Scary as hell though... look at the pincers on its tail... wtf is it folks?

Earwig. Not sure which species, they all look fairly similar.

They look scary, but are pretty much harmless. The tail pincers are strong enough to hurt a bit, but no poison (think getting pinched by a baby crab).

I have a feeling that i'm gonna hate this thread. (Entomophobic obviously.)

But yeah, that things head kinda looks like an ant head.

Having spent some time in South Carolina, I can attest that insects living down south are MUCH larger than their Northern counterparts.

This was hanging out in my bathtub this morning. I rolled a quarter next to it for reference. Scared the living bejesus out of me, but it met its untimely end at the hand of a long metal grilling spatula.

Hmmm... I thought Brazil would be worse, but that's probably just information about the rainforests becoming my uninformed preconception of what most of the country's wildlife is like :P

I myself am hoping to move to a place with less wasps and flies... perhaps someplace cold or rainy like Seattle or London. Basically, I hate insects. Like reptiles, don't mind rodents, appreciate ravens and their cousins, but hate insects... :geemer:

On topic, is that a cockroach? And why did you kill the wittle guy. Just think: What would Samus... oh, nevermind...

Brazil is a pretty large countries. I'm sure some places are hell for bug-haters like you and I. But I live in an urban area, so the worst I get are ants, mosquitos, tiny spiders and huge-ass moths. We get bats sometimes, too.
