I just found it to be ironic that immediately after Adam's sacrifice, Samus killed a Metroid Queen which is immune to ice beams.

i couldve sworn that the queen was weak to cold, as it retained the origonal genes. didnt melissa say that or something? or that less attractive chick that was her 'mom?'

The larval metroids it spawned were vulnerable to cold, but I don't think cold makes as big an impression on the later Metroid phases anyway.

The original depiction of post-larval stage metroids in Metroid II said that the ice beam didn't affect them. Only the larval-stage metroids were affected, and so this leaves the "unfreezable once past a larva" thing seem pointless. Dear god, another problem with the plot.

to be used as a control, so they didn't have any superfluous genetic engineering.

I don't think I remember this being mentioned before, but here's one more problem:
Why would the federation genetically engineer metroids immune to cold on the Bottle Ship, but would then later simply clone metroids afterward? The Omega at the end clearly was only weak to the ice beam. Maybe they got smart and realized that invincible god mods that act with an animal intelligence is a bad thing, but jeez.

Damn, I just figured that they somehow altered the Metroid's genes so that they could evolve into their "unfreezable forms" without being on SR388. However, they then said that the Queen was unaltered? WTF, then how in the world did they end up with a Queen in the first place? If Queens could just evolve anywhere then how come the Space Pirates, who propagate metroids on just about every planet they land on, never once ended up with a Queen?!? MY HEAD HURTS!

huh, guess prime cant be considered canon, as one of the scans say that metroids devolp differently depending on the planet its on. with omegas and such only coming from an sr388 enviorment.

That Omega did not fly or spite acid either, I think it was a retarded Metroid. They probably missed a few chromosomes during the cloning process.

so i figure all the metroids that were cloned from the OG baby's dna would have become a queen

But the Pirates cloned from the same source in Super and didn't get no Queens! Also, did we not just discuss how the Metroids reproduce asexually and the Chozo would have kept their genetics from variation in order to prevent them form eventually evolving away from needing to non non X and instead non non on the rest of the galaxy or something?!? ARRRGGGG!
