Mini-Memes. Why?

What are we, 4chan? I thought us Metroid fans had more class.

You obviously weren't here when MP3: Corruption came out, and we were making fun of ALL THE DIALOGUE in that game, too.


When something is cheesy or conspicuous, fans have this tendency to point it out and pretty fast.


Complaining about such things, well, that seems inefficient.

It's not just these forums. The entire fandom is doing it and it's happened to more than just Corrpution and Other M.

One of my personal favorites is "Science team has vapor for brains." Also, "Surely, we are cursed." Then there was the one where they start executing their own for not having the qualities desired when following Dark Samus.

Well... thank God that I wasn't. I was too busy enjoying the sheer awesomeness that was MP3. Plus the fact that there WERE VAs in a Metroid game made me clap like a happy monkey at the time.

Although, I have to admit I didn't find the dialouge in Corruption to come even close to the cheesy scriptwriting in Other M. "Even in the naivete of my youth" "Confession time" etc.

Yah, it's true we aren't no 4chan but-- Other M in all it's glory-- it also needs some room for us fans to poke fun at it. This is true for all series really. If you like it your bound to find humor on it as well as serious stuff. -It happens.

To be frank, I didn't think any of the lines in Corruption were corny. Some of the scan logs, on the other hand... I'm talking about the Pirate Data, primarily, which I think Retro intentionally made humorous. They seemed cool and on top of things until Samus and/or Dark Samus got involved. At those points, they'd start shitting their pants in fear and began saying some really funny stuff.

I wouldn't call it a meme, I'd call it an in-joke, and they occur in every single community. They just happen to be more obnoxious and random on 4chan.

As far as MP3 goes...This line might not have been funny but I liked it and though it was a little cheesy,
"Hey were the good guys- we defeat evil and all that stuff-- Right Samus?" -Rundas

But yah, it's not really a meme just an in-joke thing.
