I used to like going on here - this website that is and using this place as my escape from the world but it seems after Other M came out this small, tight, little forum community has become a bit of a war-zone. I understand that IE voiced his thoughts on alike type thread but this thread I thought could be more of an embrace of unity back into this place. I understand that not all of us our happy with the direction, decisions and choices of Other M but this seems to have a bigger impact then I 1st thought. Whenever I log on now, I get depressed by seeing how other users treat each other-- some might be jokes but it's hard to tell online. I have tried to see past this negativism by going onto the M:OM humor thread, but it's only a temporary fix. I just hope we--together can move past this game and recovery as a united Metroid fan-forum once again. I completely understand that emotions seem to be running high over this particular game but I'd really hate to see others bring torn apart over this. All this criticism I'm reading, if joking or not is tough to read though.

With that out off my my chest I hope that we can become a family again and look forward to what this site has to offer in the future. There is a new Metroid-Database contest coming up and await listening to the admins Wave Beam ep. 4 on their take of Other M.

I don't want this thread to turn into a war-- I'd just like for you all to read my message. Your free to express yourself I don't mind, I'd just rather have this place be more 'friendly' then full on blasting others for not agreeing. I really don't want to quit but I will if we all can't get along or at least be civil.

I am completely aware of that but it's like if you threw out an old fish-- but it's still in your trashcan inside your home. Over time it will smell and only if you solve that problem-- will that smell go away. AKA-- throw it out into your trashcan outside.

Sure I could easily go to another forum but with my fish example it would be like putting perfume over it... the fish smell will over come that sent and I still have that problem to deal with. So that's why I made this statement here because it's the source of the problem.

I still don't see a particularly bitter war going on.

We're making jokes. People are having fun and posting rows of the smiley. In fact, the majority of the argument is people who take issue with the game defending themselves from people labeling them haters, distrubers of the peace (i.e. this thread), etc.

Much less argument is over the game itself, and that which is isn't all that bad.

In my opinion.

I'm also not seeing much of the hate. I've had quite a laugh at Other M's awful storytelling and Samus' characterization(or lack there of). I try to keep some debates civil, but then certain users go off calling me a "jerk", whiner, patronizing, a baby, etc.

Whatever your opinion on Other M is, its not going away any time soon. I say, roll with the punches and enjoy yourself. I am

Actually, I think that most of the disgruntledness has calmed down quite bit.

Before the game's release: Everybody was happy and speculative.

The second the game was released and the following week: Most people seemed to enjoy the game, but a few people that disliked it constantly yelled loudly and those that liked it the most almost preemptively defended it. Most everything that was said and done was the result of a gut-reaction.

A few weeks after the game's release: Most everybody that planned to play the game, has. Most everybody has vented their initial gut-reactions and settled on their views to a point that their Metroid skin has hardened a bit more to criticism. It's just that we sometimes have a newcomer come on that hasn't vented their views yet, and likely hasn't looked back at older topics to see what has and has not been covered.

We are currently at the point of harmlessly making fun of the game to no end.

I would say that, overall, things are starting to level out quite nicely here on the Other M forum. Give it another week or so and things will calm down even more and we'll all be speculating on the next Metroid game even more than we are right now.

Eh, my unhappiness with Other M is quickly being superceded by the exciting going on at TGS '10.

Also, if you think this board is bad; don't go near the GameFAQs Other M board. That is where the real war is going on. It's a battlefield day in and day out, making this place look downright happy.

As long as we can all continue to agree that Super/Prime/Fusion/Zero Mission are good games and that Hunters is the epitome of evil, I see no problem here.

I don't see a war going on, everyone has figured out where they stand on Other M and things have settled down, everyone has their opinions and has already expressed them, so all there is left is to joke around and talk about other games that are coming up.

It's been pretty mellow, the problem has been that a lot of people didn't like parts of Other M, and others wouldn't leave them alone for it. It seems pretty much over.

Chozo Child, if this section bothers you, you might consider just staying out of it until it dies down a bit more, because the other sections are pretty much free of Other M arguments, and it would be a shame to lose you.

I'm one of the Debbie Downers who doesn't particularly like Other M's story, but I agree that the arguing is starting to get pretty redundant at this point. Anything that can be said already has been, and nobody is going to change anybody else's mind.

That's why we really have to focus on hyping up the release of Metroid Ultimate Dread.
