Do you always post in the exact opposite of what you truly mean or are you just that pretentious by choice? As much as he dogged on Other M, I know his "reviews" are mostly satire anyway. I've never taken ZP seriously. I really liked it. In fact.... EDIT: I don't really see a good reason to sticky this. MOM section already has a bazillion stickies as it is.

Preemptive measure to channel discussion. The thread wasn't intended to be a permanent sticky. Now, back on topic... I liked ZP's rendering of Samus (though her arm canon kept getting flipped).

Hey Metroid Story Writer A, wasn't there supposed to be something about intrigue in this story?

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

This review was spot on and enjoyable to watch. I think someone should replay older games Super Metroid) with the new Samus monologues and choking moments. This would be entertainment.

He isn't that hard to please, really. He's said good things about Portal, Half-Life, Silent Hill, Metroid Prime, Shadow of the Colossus, Prince of Persia, No More Heroes, the Mario RPG's and Arkham Asylum. Sometimes he even likes a game but still makes fun of it.

I'll be interested in reading the Extra Punctuation article on this, and seeing how he handles he inevitable 'fan' responce.

Mm, I'm not the sort of person to complain at Yahtzee or really care about his opinion because I know he's just an entertainment machine, but are you really labelling people who happen to like Other M as 'fans'? Like, psuedo fans of Metroid or something? Or am I misinterpreting? Anyway, I wasn't really aware of him particularly caring about fan response, he's attacked various other games and caused the wrath of far more fans than he'll get by attacking Other M, I suspect. The Brawl review springs to mind.

Which was exactly what I was referring to. It's not uncommon for rabid fanbrats to flood Yahztee's email with hate and death threats and the usual tripe you see on the internet whenever he negatively reviews something from a popular franchise, and I'll be astounded if the same doesn't happen with Other M. And generally speaking Yahztee's responces to such idiocy is as entertaining as his actual reviews.
State why I posted 'fan' responce as opposed to fan responce.

I actually think his reviews can be somewhat helpful. If you can figure out what he is nitpicking over and what is actually a serious flaw, he can give a general idea of how the game is. For instance, if he talks about how boring and predictable the story is it probably means that nothing was really wrong with the game itself. Of course, in the Metroid review he actually stated that that the controls were terrible too. I happen to disagree, the game play was one of the best things about the game.
Really, I think this review was nothing special. He echoed what just about every other reviewer is saying about the game. He just spoke faster and had cartoon pictures.

Maybe you're the one unsure of its definition? pre·ten·tious /prɪˈtɛnʃəs/ Show Spelled[pri-ten-shuhs] – adjective1.full of pretense or pretension. 2.characterized by assumption of dignity or importance. 3.making an exaggerated outward show; ostentatious. pre·tense /prɪˈtɛns, ˈpritɛns/ Show Spelled[pri-tens, pree-tens] –noun1.pretending or feigning; make-believe: My sleepiness was all pretense. 2.a false show of something: a pretense of friendship. 3.a piece of make-believe. 4.the act of pretending or alleging falsely. 5.a false allegation or justification: He excused himself from the lunch on a pretense of urgent business. 6.insincere or false profession: His pious words were mere pretense. 7.the putting forth of an unwarranted claim. 8.the claim itself. 9.any allegation or claim: to obtain money under false pretenses. 10.pretension (usually fol. by to ): destitute of any pretense to wit. 11.pretentiousness. Judging by Descardion's constant trollish behavior (inasmuch that I'm probably never going to read another one of his posts ever again) I'd say he fits the definition to a T.

I was referring to the typical coloquial usage of pretentious, which is faux superiority and intelligence for simple matters.
But I digress, you win this time, Infinity. This time.Back on topic...
I've heard people say that Yahtzee is getting less funny, but I disagree. I laughed hard at this video.Quadraxis wrote:He isn't that hard to please, really. Give him a JRPG other than Earthbound (I have no idea how the hell he can like Earthbound and hate JRPGs) or a fighting game, and he'll bitch until he runs out of breath.
In fact, the whole Brawl fiasco was caused by people forcing a fighting game (Of sorts) on him.TrackerPrime wrote:I actually think his reviews can be somewhat helpful. HAHAHAno.
See: His Madworld review. Yahtzee might raise a few good points every once in a while, but they're typically points that pretty much everybody else has raised.
Yahtzee is a comedian first, a reviewer second.
Suckers.

I'm sensing a little bit of bias here. You do realize I was just playing around and didn't offend anyone, right? Unless I somehow hurt your feelings, and I really hope to God that you're above that. But I digress. I wasn't really even trying to stir up shit -I mean for fuck's sakes, a ton of people do this all the time and don't get any flak- but I guess that if I was trolling, you would fit the definition of "being trolled". I did get a pretty hilarious reaction out of you, you must admit. I really wish you'd stop taking me so goddamn seriously. But I'm starting to think that's normal for you.

I've always been of the opinion that you don't have to agree with Yahtzee, just have a sense of humor.
