Hello I've searched on this forum and on the net for information on the "work robot" And I'm surprised to learn that this enemy never had a "name". I don't know if I'm the only one having good memories about him. But with his second appearence in Zero mission, I think he deserve a proper name. So what is you're opinion ? Change? Not change ? Maybe just a nickname ?Either way, why don't we ( On Mdb forum ) try to vote him a name that we will all agree. , What better place ? I think we're the biggest agglomeration of metroid geek . There shouldn't be much debate on this since we're not talking about important stuff, just a discussion about this rare enemy . And if you all agree with keeping " Work robot " as a name ,well I'll just shut up and still love this 60's metroid robot . Gort ( Mysterious Doctor satan ) Here's some name from other metroid fiend ( just to be in the mood ): Zoomer , Ki-hunter , puyo , Mochtroid , Menu , Shaktool , Tatori , Cacatak and ... Space Pirate .. mm? Space pirate.. Work robot, space pirate work robot. ? Ah what the hell.. let's concentrate on Work robot subject ( I think Space pirate is more an organization name than a Race name . But I'm sure there's many many fact that will prove me wrong ) Edit* :Name so far : -Walking tin cans -Steamcan -Walking garbage can -Dakels ... wink* wink* On this I say : " Buh bye, gotta watch some unpublished mst3k !"

I know I've seen these called something else other than "Work Robot" but I can't find the source at the moment... ah I'll figure it out later. They are in the Manga too:

We could always call them 'walking tin cans' --I lovely like to refer to them as that. But seriously that's their function-- it's a Work Robot. I think that's a fine name. You don't have to be that creative sometimes with names... look at steamlord boss for example. It's a boss or lord over all the other robots and it's steam powered-- Whoo... steamlord! Ta daa...! xD

You know... what kind of work do they even do? They have no arms.
Fun fact though, they do occasionally attack in Super Metroid by firing a small laser very rarely. If I remember correctly it looks a bit like a Rinka. I might be wrong...

Yeah, I had this blurry memory too . I was sure it was written in my Super metroid players guide, but I opened the sealed cellophane for nothing . -ChozoChild- wrote::awesome: We could always call them 'walking tin cans' --I lovely like to refer to them as that. Yeah, have to admit, and I forgoted about the steamlord, I think he was pretty cool. His robot minion too resembled vintage robot . SpareChange wrote:'These are not the droids you are looking for'

N-no, you're perfectly right, it does resemble a rinka, but if I remember right, you almost never see them launch the damn ray, they always do it in you're back or off screen. When I was a kid playing metroid, they killed me once, and I was too young too understand their invulnerability , so I fired at them for 20 min for revenge, thinking they would eventually die. I did the same thing in the practice mode of Killer instinct

All the more reason why that thing sucks. Samus is clearly some kind of puppy-hating jerk, and besides, in canon the robots are indestructible.
hahaha walking garbage can ? If a player guide said this or nintendo power it would remain a cult quote. Yeah, I'm surprise she can destroy them with a punch. BUT me at 10 y'old I cant kill them by shooting 3 hours at it!

if you actually read the manga, you'd see the reason she punched one of them is because Mother Brain used them to torch all the ionfaries (they had turned evil, but still). Samus was throwing a "tantrum" by punching one.
She was so young. Young and naive. Also, considering Samus can't punch in the games, it doesn't make them "indestructible." Maybe they're just immune to beam weapons?

You can Super Missile and Power Bomb them for hours, without making a dent and a punch doesn't pack more...eh...punch than those.
