But the chozo were massive and a different shape, think of the Torizos. Thats definitely much more humanoid.
Its just a soldier or another bounty hunter who didn't make it.

I'm pretty sure the tourizos are larger than actual chozo. You do have a point about body structure, though.

But then again, we still haven't figured out how Samus can fit into that armor herself, so that may or may not mean anything.

Must be like Sauron' ring , the suit adjust to the user.

It adjusts her body so that she has a tiny tiny waist, no neck and huge wide shoulders?

I've been thinking lately that it's more like parts of Samus dematerialize and turn into energy while in the suit, like when she enters the Morph Ball. It would help to explain how she fits in a suit with such screwy proportions. But then, the Ridley and Sector Zero scenes in Other M probably discount that idea...

I have a feeling that it just screws up her proportions because some parts are a lot bulkier, and don't necessarily conform exactly to her body shape. She still doesnt exactly fit in, but enough for her to look pretty inside and outside the suit xP

This is almost certainly overthinking it, but...

Its been strongly hinted that Samus' suit involves interdimensional technology. The suit is stored in some kind of pocket dimension when Samus isn't using it. When she wants to deploy the suit, she pulls it out of its PD and it reappears around her. Even with the suit fully active, there are probably extensive components of it that are still extradimensional (explaining how she can fit so many gadgets into that thing, not to mention the amounts of energy). The morph ball works in a similar way, but in reverse; the suit recalls its pilot into its dimensional cavity, leaving only a small, spherical piece of itself in normal space.

This could also explains why Samus needs willpower to activate the suit. If the suit is biologically connected to her, then that means there's basically a synthetic organ (or organ system) inside of Samus' body that extends into the pocket dimension and connects the inactive suit with its owner. Pulling the suit out of its pocket-dimension is basically the equivalent of flexing a very powerful muscle, and keeping it deployed might require Samus to keep that muscle tensed (if she relaxes it, the suit slips back into extra-dimensional space).

So, relating this back to the topic at hand...

Maybe most of Samus' body is pulled into the pocket dimension even when the suit is humanoid looking? Only her head and arms (or whatever) actually stick out into the visible "suit," and the rest is just a mech? That would explain the irreconcilability of Samus' stature and body shape in and out of the suit. It would also explain why the speed booster doesn't tear her legs apart (Samus' legs aren't actually in the suit's legs). Needlessly complicated and inefficient? Yes, but not more so than a combat weapon whose structural integrity depends on the wielder's stress levels.

Maybe, it's a mind barrier . Samus real appearance is a big chicken Chozo. Because of DNA manipulation .

Or the suit adjust on Samus , and Samus adjust to the suit. She pull down her head in her torso , her shoulder dislocate and expand, her arm develop massive muscular tissue . All vital organ from the waist section is pulled up in the torso . And her leg expand a bit. What you think about that ? :AH: Creepy ? mmMMMmm.. what a lady ! That's what I call self control !

Well, we know that Samus is biologically melded with her suit, and that the suit appears and dissapears out of thin air. That means that whatever the chozo did to her anatomy, its got to be really, really, REALLY fucked up.

I always thought it was more of a strong mental link with the suit, as in that was how she controlled it. I never saw it as an anatomy thing xD

I thought all the Chozo did to her anatomy was gave her really large T&A
Because they're all perverts.

Also true . But , maybe , the chozo tech play trick on our perception , the true chozo and their tech are inconceivable to us.

Naaahh XD , it's 5 in the morning, I'm all mixed up.

Troid wrote:^ That's a particulary old and fat Chozo.

Judging from the statues, they're a lot slimmer and much less squat than that birdie.

This is true, that's Old Bird from the manga. Gray Voice, the other major Chozo in the manga, is much slimmer and quite tall (but nothing like a Torizo).

Here are some regular Chozo. Note that these are ancient Chozo. No indication of their size exactly, but another image (here on the Database) depicts them with a bag of seeds and plants and in no way does it look minature or anything.

Steamlord wrote:Yeah, the Chozo seem to have sort of regressed after becoming pacifists. It's possible they used to be much larger, perhaps even as large as a Torizo. There's really no way to know for sure.

I have a few counterpoints to that theory. The first one is here...

http://metroid-database.com/manga/official_vol_1_en/ch_0007/scaled/sc_metroid_v01_ch07_165.png

http://metroid-database.com/manga/official_vol_2_en/ch_0011/scaled/sc_metroid_v02_ch011_073.png

Two pages from the manga, the first one depicting ancient Chozo at their height (with wings, no less) and the second one depicting Gray Voice wearing the same armour. Gray Voice is only a bit taller than Samus, if I remember correctly.

My second point is this... if Chozo were the size of Torizo, why would they make doors that they can't get through? Not only that, but why would they make statues that were the same size as they are? Statues are usually made to be imposing and dramatic and therefore much bigger than what they represent.

Finally, if Chozo developed Morph Ball technology and devised robotic statues that activated when you roll up into a morph ball in their hands, they would surely have to be small enough to actually fit on those hands.

There is a mental component, definitely. But remember how the X were able to infect the suit in Fusion, which made it impossible for Samus to take it off? And the mention of Samus having been genetically modified to be compatible with the suit ("chozo blood")? There's some pretty extensive body modification as well.

Sylux, I'm with you expect that you keep saying "pocket dimension" which instantly turns me off the whole idea. Way too Star Trek. Chozo technology is more akin to magic than real science, so using pseudo-science to explain how things work always strikes me as a bit pointless. Chozo technology clearly uses some level of scientific comprehension so far in advance of humans that it really just boarders on magic.

Plus its a bit like when people explain how Link carries all his items around, or where Amy Rose hides her hammer.

The Power Suit is powered by CHOZO SUPER MAGIC SCIENCE and is directly linked to Samus. Both mentally AND physically. That's why Samus can summon it at will. No further explaination is required.

I originally thought the Power Suit sorta broke her arms at her shoulders and legs, allowing them to be stretched to fit the suit. The shoulder pads would continuously give her sedatives to prevent pain.
Even the strongest of people can have their faith broken. Mine has.
