A bit aways from where Alor and Z spoke, a pair of slitted yellow eyes gazed in their general direction, buried in the shadows of the treeline. Moonlight may have glinted off of the teeth revealed by a curling green lip if they weren't so tarnished with grime. His hygiene was slipping- he'd have to find more antlers to crunch on.
Or bones in general. Those were fine. He couldn't eat the bones of those two, though. It was forbidden. Especially with his "mother" so near.
Rokai growled, a rumbling from deep within his chest, and craned his thick neck to stare at the little girl resting against his flank. Her pale face was illuminated by a cold light cast from a pair of floating images that hovered above her outstretched hand. Her other hand, held in her lap, kneaded a small cloth bag. Aside from some slightly knit eye-brows, her expression was difficult to read.
"We'll find some deer later." Apparently, she could read him just fine.
Rokai snorted through his generous nostrils and let his tail thrash fallen leaves. It was noisy, but he didn't care. "What are we
doing here?" It was a boring, shallow world with little to do and few people to meet. Not that he really
enjoyed meeting people, but sometimes they were fun to play games with. And he had seen. He'd seen...
The little girl stared at the moving images. One showed numerous heroes felling a dark lord, the other showed a conversating young couple.
"I'm not sure... maybe," she swallowed, "...passing judgment." She closed her hand and the image vanished. Rokai could tell she was distressed.
"These places," she started, "should be seed beds for creativity and exploration. Improvement. Fun." She gestured at the vaguely defined landscape surrounding them, "I don't feel like I'm seeing that here. Not
completely, anyway."
"Then let's leave." He was bored. He didn't even smell the spoor of animals here. It was shockingly sterile to his sensitive nasal passages.
Her mouth curved in a wry slash, "I can't."
And that means you aren't either. "I have a responsibility to this place's cradle. I have to evaluate it to ensure it's contributing to the cradle's purpose, or at least isn't dragging it down."
Rokai sighed and rolled his eyes. Most of these things just went over his head. So instead he just let his head thump to the ground and stared at his small mother expectantly.
Small mother. It still bothered him. She insisted she wasn't a god or God, and had become rather distressed when he suggested it. This distress made HIM distressed, and somehow he knew in his core of hearts that he was a part of this strange little person. She had said that she was no more a god as a mother was a god to her child.
Presently, she wasn't forthcoming in her explanation.
"What are we going to do?"
She looked up from her hand, which still kneaded the bag. "For now? Nothing. We just have to hope they notice that we noticed, and that I'm displeased at the state of things."
But we haven't done anything. But he knew better than to ask for elucidation, and simply settled into the leaves. Those he
did smell. Perhaps it was because of he and his mother.
As Rokai's eyes slid shut into sleep, Mai's hand opened again and summoned a screen, this time with a holographic keyboard. She let go of the bag and typed in plain English:
THIS IS ONE OF THE LARGEST TOPICS ON THE BOARD, AND MOST OF THE POSTS ARE COMPRISED OF ONE LINERS. THIS IS MORE FITTING FOR A CHAT ROLEPLAY AND HAS A SPAMMY AFTERTASTE. IF YOU'RE GOING TO ROLEPLAY, EXERCISE YOUR WRITING MUSCLES LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER'S HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SHOW YOU, OR MOVE IT TO A CHAT. (YOU WOULD ALL PROBABLY FIND THAT MORE CONVENIENT ANYWAY.)
Mai stared at nothing before continuing:
ALSO, KEEP THE RP IN THE RP.
She sighed and sat back, resting against Rokai's warm flank, and closed her eyes.
