"Metroid 1.5" early concept for Echoes

Still hammering the article together, but the links are there. You can easily spot the influences that this document had on the game. It's wacky, but I think you guys will dig the art and such.

OK, why the Hell didn't we get this game instead of Prime 2? It sounds infinitely more awesome. It'd be nice if they decided to salvage this whole concept for a new entry in the series, but that would never happen. Sigh...

I mean, shit man, Humetroids? Seriously? Metroids launched from the chest? I feel like we are missing out.

Cool idea. It just doesn't feel like Metroid, though. I think Echoes was a much better fit.

Well,I agree that it doesnt sound a lot like Metroid, but I think It would expand Metroid both in a gameplay and in story. It sounds interesting and fresh for the series, and that what Metroid needs now - some new ideas.Imho...

Currently trying to put something together on my site, however i'm going to link to Wikitroid when its all put together. This is a fabulous find and it's nice to see what could have been. It all feels very dark and quite eerie...I personally think this could have been a great Metroid game.

Ooooooh, good thing I downloaded the .doc in question after reading the article this morning. (And to think that I only did it to be able to see the images. :P )

parts of it sound like a good fanfiction (particularly concerning the AI), but it looks in general like an interesting-yet-radically different approach to Metroid.

It seems much more multi-player focused, and probably what Hunters SHOULD have been, for all intents and purposes.

While this is essentially just ideas, some of them are pretty interesting, and while I have nothing to back it up aside from text, this ship seems to be a lot more interesting than the Bottle Ship, for what it's worth.

Maybe one day we'll see the rest of these ideas cobbled into a new game. Though I'd love to see Samus in another gaiden story.

I was just about to say the same thing as Emperor Ing. This sounds like a fanfiction, not a serious idea for a game. Not only that, but parts of it sound like bad fan fiction. Humeroid? Seriously?

It's actually a combination of a Metroid and David Hume, enlightenment philosopher.

He uses his powers of contingency to phase through unnecessary objects. Which is in fact everything in the universe. He's actually a pretty tough opponent.

Too long with several images to get all that on here, but take a look at this. Very interesting.

ChozoBoy beat ya to the punch in the Prime section. Though, this one has the images inline, so that's nice.

It is the standard shock trooper of the Alien fleet and carriers a high-powered pulse rifle and frag-grenades. In addition to mechanical weapons, it can also self-destruct when in danger or low on health. Again, the blast radius would kill anything within a 20-foot radius.

•Due to a genetic flaw, the heart and lungs (on its backside) of the shock beast are exposed, making it an easy kill. Since the ship’s AI has noticed the design flaw, later versions have an armored carapace that must be destroyed in order to hit the vital areas, much like the Baby Sheegoth.

Then it showed this picture.

Now we finally know why the Space Pirates from Echoes have that exposed heart.

In addition to the comparisons made to SHODAN I actually was reminded of Turrican of all things. The bad guy from the first game was (at least according to one manual) an evil computer that went rouge and conquered a colony planet with it's army of genetically engineered and mechanical abominations. Most notably MORGUL, as they call it, had three heads. I wonder if he would have developed along similar lines had they expanded its character more.
