Re: Melee Weapons
What I know is that melee weapon is really a powerful weapon. |
|
Re: Melee WeaponsOh, I've got an idea of something Samus could use at short range. It's amazingly powerful, can transform into a variety of modes, has infinite energy, can absorb energy, and can take out most enemies in one or two hits. It's called an arm cannon, I think.
Suckers.

Re: Melee WeaponsAnd here I thought you were going to take that description and go somewhere completely off-the-wall hilarious. For shame, Doc. FOR SHAME.
You should have ended that with something along the lines of 'a Metroid on a leash,' which is where I thought you were headed. ![]() X-Ray Scope Acquired! |

Re: Melee Weapons
That only works when the Space Pirates have THEIR metroids on leashes. After all when you are attached to sentient being who's life energy you can suck: it's easier. I still vote for a Tachi. Imagine Samus CUTTING OFF ONE OF RIDLEYS WINGS!!

Re: Melee WeaponsSamus with a blade would just make it Zelda. I swear during the Vorash fight, when he exposes his glowing belly to you I ran up to it and tried to hit it with my sword. It just reminded me of that type of battle that was common in TP.
In any case, I kinda wished there were more melee moves in Other M, even if it was just kicks and punches (that kick to the space pirate was awesome, but I only managed to do it in the training segment.) |

Re: Melee Weapons
Pssh... Need I remind you of this little guy? ![]() Her sole purpose was to help and protect mommy, who just so happened to be Samus at the time. Though, its trustworthyness might be lost when Samus' Power Suit goes bye-bye, but that is dependent on how much stronger its need to protect mommy is than its hunger. ![]() X-Ray Scope Acquired! |

Re: Melee Weapons
True, but he's also 0-1 in battle. Got kidnapped by Ridley, killed by Mama Brain... yeah... the Baby was awesome and I wish she could have been more awesome, but she got beat down. Poor baby... OMG. Samus' monologues make sense now...

Re: Melee WeaponsQuick, do a barrel roll! You are dangerously close to falling to the dark side! Do a somersault to break free!

Re: Melee Weapons
Yeah can someone explain to me how to do that in the first place? I like the kick but I have no idea how to do it. As for melee weopons, I'lll stick with my arm canon... "As your commander I forbid wearing anything but the Zero Suit in this next Sector. You must also wear a blindfold and crawl on all fours until I authorize bipedal movement."

Re: Melee Weapons
I think you have to do a sense move when a pirate/kihunter/griptian/ghalmanian grabs you |
|
Re: Melee Weaponsi've always had the idea since i beat other m that if you got an enemy to sufficient damage at close range she would have an energy scythe that was similar to the pirate ones in the primes activate from her left arm and she would stab the enemy then shoot it in the face with the arm cannon.
everyone wins!

Re: Melee WeaponsYou know, now that I look back on this, I have to agree. Samus's arm cannon's mass is good for whacking stuff, metal-clad hands and feet are good for martial arts, boost ball is one of those 'nuff said cases, and a energy bayonet type thing is all you'd really need other than that.
I still think true melee weapons (swords and stuff) is a neat idea, but it's completely pointless. kudos to anyone who can actually find a situation where it's truly needed. That, and it probably wouldn't fit at all with metroid's usual gameplay, even what we have in Other M changed it a lot. So yeah, arm cannon, hands/feet, boost ball, and (I wish this were reality) a bayonet type thing it shall be. BLARG!

Re: Melee WeaponsI don't even see the need for a bayonet. She already has the Grapple Lasso. Just put it to use as a whip instead of only grabbing enemies and you have a good melee weapon. Make it fast and weak with moderate range and knockback and it would be a versatile part of her arsenal to help with positioning. The way it works in the Super Smash Bros series is actually a decent use for it.

Re: Melee Weaponsi've always wanted to use it SSB style in metroid games. imagine how fun that would be, pulling stuff toward you and whacking it with the arm cannon, or flinging its at some form of vehicle. like those pirate transports, throwing a pirate at the engine of one of those and making it explode.
