Okay, whatever happened to this version of Samus?

It seems that right after Fusion, it vanished and the Zero Suit totally took over so suddenly. What gives?

Better yet, which of the two do you prefer anyway?

Zero suit. Jumps suits always were, and always will be awesome. Besides, it is less revealing, which is also a good thing.

Well, I do too, but she probably couldn't wear that while inside the Power suit, could she?

The reasoning for that particular outfit's disappearance is that Fusion is, chronologically, the last game in the series.
That outfit, or two-piece Zero Suit, likely represents the butchered nature of her Power Suit in Fusion after the GFeds had to amputate parts of it. It represents the diminished defensive capabilities of her Power Suit, while demonstrating a more casual, light-fitting look. Look at how much of that Zero Suit is left in those images and you can get a good feel for just how much of the Power Suit they cut off. Really makes ya feel bad for her.

It hasn't reappeared because we haven't yet had a game that takes place after Fusion.

As for me, I like the Zero Two-Piece.

Word. It's actually my favorite design, even if the two piece is a little revealing. Even if they just stuck THIS Samus into the Zero Suit, I'd be happy. I always thought she had the beautiful, adult face of a strong, serene woman.

The Japanese endings demonstrate what I'm talking about best.

Actually...at the end of Zero Mission, there's a picture of her in an ORANGE version of the blue two piece, so I dunno about the whole diminished power thing

at least this time in Metroid V, they'll have a reason all of her power ups went poof (missiles and bombs anyway)

I second that. That's my favorite casual outfit she has.

The blue two piece is my close 2nd favorite, fallowed by her green ending outfit from MOM.
I strongly hope that in the game that fallows after Fusion they feature her blue two piece outfit again-- I think it would be terrific.

Ah, but there's the catch: The orange outfit was orange, not blue, thus not a Zero Suit. Every incarnation of the Zero Suit to date has been blue. I know that the OG Metroid outfit was purple/pink/maroon, the Metroid II bikini was probably red, and the Super outfit was black, but that was all before they came up with the concept of the Zero Suit (as remedied by Zero Mission ). I guarantee you that when they finally remake RoS and Super, Sammy is gonna be wearing the standard blue jumpsuit under her armour.

Then again, I bet they really hadn't thought much about the Zero Suit concept during the development of Fusion, or she likely would have been wearing the full one under her suit then (unless my idea holds).

makes me wonder if they make new Zero Suit art, if she'll have scars on her arms and legs...and actually, wouldn't she just get a new fullbody zero suit?

She just has a closet full of dozens of copies of the same 3 or 4 outfits.
