I don't have too many problems with the game, in fact I think it's one of the best hacks ever made. I just wish you could refill HP/Missiles at the save points in the Space Pirate ship... it's just not really fair or balanced at that point.

Scratch that. I do have 1 problem:
The ReadMe states that you can actually go through the Space Pirate base without making the pirates appear at all. And to do that is almost-impossible. You have to basically be a master of the Horizontal Bomb jump in order to hit the L-2 switch. Since I can't do it, nor have any care/want to learn, I'm basically about to give up. >_< Really sad, too. It wouldn't be so bad if there were an easier way to access this part, but I'm deeming this "near-impossible" and only obsessively expert players (or ones with tools to assist) can do it. It would be somewhat-possible if instead of just an invisible floor, it were dissolving blocks instead, and you could just spring jump across. "forcing" a horiz-IBJ is just NOT cool.

In the pic: You have to get to the circle without touching the fake floor below. Touching the floor is actually a beam to the Space Pirate alarm system that makes them arrive.

Infinity's End wrote:Yes, to get into ridley's room, you must chain a Shinespark together, aka "Boost Dashing". I helped retranslate the English ReadMe, so it explains it a little better:

·Boost Dash is accomplished by pushing the dash button and either Left or Right on the Dpad on a slope during a horizontal shinespark.
However, do not push other buttons.

So basically:
1.) Get speed for a Shinespark and press Down to get a charge.
2.) Press Jump and then the direction you want to Horizontal Shinespark.
3.) The moment you Shinespark, press and hold the direction you are moving and the Dash Button at the same time.
4.) Optional: Press Down to reset the Shinespark charge.
There is a part where you have to chain a Shinespark together and get up to a platform. After you break that first Speed Booster wall, you have to jump across dissolving bridges with the Spring Ball.
I don't remember having to chain a shinespark, where was this?

@VampireJesus: There was an area in Norfair/Ridley where you had to do a Boost Dash, not exactly chain shinesparks. This allowed you to break down a Speed Booster Wall. Maybe you bypassed that part somehow?

Have you beaten the game? If so, I am stuck. If you look at the pic below, I am facing a grayed, L-3 door (that takes you into the room to the left). If I go further from the Save Point where I saved, it takes me back into Crateria, with no way back if I fall down. If I go back into the ship, I can get to an area where you can choose to touch the yellow sensors or not, there are two that cross each other. I don't have power bombs yet. Do you know what I'm supposed to do?

I haven't beaten the game, but I'm at the point where I need to return to the ship. At the point that you're at, I don't think there's much else you can do in the ship, since you won't get power bombs yet for awhile (although there are a few things that make me wonder if it's possible to get power bombs earlier).

Alright, I'm in the Ship now. I managed to open the L-2 Doors without touching a laser. I did it WITHOUT horizontal bomb jumping. I just boosted through the walls before, then I stopped, went a bit back, and did a running jump against the wall to the right (the one with the little crack you can bomb open). Then I did a wall jump, turned to Morph Ball, bombed the crack open and did another fast walljump. Then I morphed into ball and went in the hole.

I know it sounds crazy, but it's easier than it sounds. Then just shot the button and go through the 2. laser (it won't trigger the alarm).

I'm going to finish the hack on Sunday, hope this little trick helps some of you explore the ship without these damn Space Pirates :D

Ok, so what's the next thing I do? Is there an L-2 Door opened somewhere else in the world that I need to access? If so, I have NO IDEA where that would be...
iirc, the entrance to Tourian is blocked by a L 1 and an L 2 door, which is why you need to go to the ship in the first place. So once you've unlocked L2, you need to get back. I don't know if avoiding the alarm allows you to exit the ship the way you came in, but normally its quite a trek to get through the ship once you've triggered the alarm.
OK, Thanks for the input VJ. Now it's BIG SPOILER TIME.
I beat the first iteration of Mother Brain, ran through the hellish, MEAN, EVIL, TERRIBLY hard escape sequence.
And then I beat MB mk 2 which was awesome, btw. But now I'm stuck on the Super Metroid. I'm assuming you have to fight it somehow!?!? I try everything and I can't seem to hurt it in any possible way. :(
big spoiler continued:
This one took me awhile. You have to equip super missiles and run for the left side of the room and break the glass. Once the Super Metroid attaches itself, you can't fire anymore. Once the glass is broken you can make it to an open hatch on the left side of the room, and of course the Metroid can't follow you through. I was quite irritated by this part; there aren't a lot of clues, and it's quite unforgiving. The good news is that the game gets much easier once you finally get out of Tourian.
Okay, hack is finished. 83% of the Items. And I have to say that it was purely amazing.
Tourian was the best Tourian I've ever seen. Baby Metroids, the normal ones, and the big one. That's how a Metroid Game should be like :D Not like these newer ones where Metroids are only normal enemys that don't do much and aren't a real threat. And the Mother Brain/Phantoon Mix was a pleasure for my eyes.
The only real complain for me was the end.
The Ship of the Space Pirates was like a giant maze for me, and I don't know how I managed it to get to Mecha Ridley. I also only opened the blue lock for the X-Ray, no clue where the other ones are :/ Another weird thing was the top of the ship. Did anyone besides me got up there? And why do you get damage if you only stand on top of the ship? The Chozo Ruins were cool, and I liked these rooms that repeated itself until you found the right exit. Really cool idea. But like I said, the ship was just weird. And the very end, where you have to run for your ship, that part was too hard I think. You have to get to the boss, beat it, and get to your ship, and all that without a health regenerator (I haven't found one. If there is one, than I take back this complain :D )
All in all, a great hack. But the end is not that great if you ask me.

PS: If someone here manages to get all items I would be happy so see a video of you doing a 100% run ^^ Becuase some of the items are impossible to get. Like the Super Missile Expansion directly under the room with the button you have to bomb to open the door to Spore Spawn. You can't build up enough speed to run through these Speed Booster blocks. I tried everything in this room >.< So I would love to see a video where someone shows how to get everything.

I still haven't beaten it yet.

I'm not really expecting a great ending simply because, as much as I loved Zero Mission, I was always disappointed by the ending in that, and since this is like a new version of that, I didn't set my hopes too high.
I agree that Tourian was amazing. Particularly how it combined the layout of old Tourian and New Tourian so you got a bigger picture. BTW, is it just me or did the landscape of the landing site change after Tourian? There was a PB door just above the entrance to the first cave, and it's gone after Tourian, and the cave changed too. This makes me wonder if you can get power bombs earlier in the game.
And does anyone know how to get that power up in lower Norfair, just before Ridley's Lair. There's acid there, and the statue is blocked by speed blocks. No matter what I tried I couldn't find an angle to break all the way through.
Yes, the landscape changes. I think the creator of the hack tried to show that when Tourian explodes the whole surface crumbles and rocks fall down. The Power Bomb Door is weird. I started a new game and cheated me some power bombs, and inside of the door is a Power Bomb Expansion. (You need to Speed Boost through the door to get it). But after everything changes I scanned the whole wall with the X-Ray (also cheated because I wanted to know what happened with the door) but haven't found anything. Very weird :/

And for the expansion in Norfair: This one is though. First you need the Gravity Suit, then you build up speed at the far left, then run to the right and jump at the right spot. If you did it correctly, you spin through all the blocks and land in front of the expansion. So you need to jump while you run.
M2k4: Congrats on beating the game. I'm still working through it. I just got the Gravity Suit, etc., and I'm working my way back through... I haven't found the L-4 switch yet, though. Little help!? I am sooooo confused on where to go next. x_x I'm currently in Crateria, a bit east of where my ship is.

Currently can't find out what to do next. Been fucking around in the Space Pirate ship for hours... :'( I opened L-4 switches, but the Orange Gates will not let me through!!! >_<X what do i do next?

P.S. there's an area in Lower Norfair (the room west of where that damn Power Bomb expansion is where you have to run through the acid) and if you look at the columns in the bg it spells out "METROID." So. Friggin. :awesome:

I DID IT. 12:12, 55%. At least 5 hours could probably be tacked on to that for just stuff I did fucking around, deaths, etc. This was easily a 15-20 hour game, and the most fun I've ever had playing a Metroid game. WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT! :D :D :D I am probably going to be writing a full, review of the game, possibly two, (1 w/spoilers, 1 w/out). This hack is absolutely, bar-none, the best SM hack in existence. Sure, there were a lot of frustrating design decisions that the guy made, but overall it's phenomenal. Innovative, creative, and painstakingly constructed, *WOO* DAMN this hack rocked.

@Metroid2k4:
Did you get whatever was in the Chozodia where you have to Boost Dash through Green Sensors, Boost Jump through a bunch of pillars, Boost Space Jump through some more pillars with spikes on the floor and ceiling, and then somehow, magically morph and carry your dash with you through a 1-block high tunnel? I tried a few hundred times and eventually just gave up. No fuckin' way any sane person could do that w/out save states.... >_> Especially since it's next to impossible to morph dash. If you got whatever that leads to, I'd love to know what it was.
Congratulations Infinity's End!

And for your question:
I don't really know which room you mean. Could you make a screenshot of the room and one of the map (to show me where this room is)? But your description sounds really hard, and I don't remember that I have done something like this.

But in the last part of the game I found many expansions that where unable to reach for me. I have no idea how some of these have to be obtained. That's the reason why I would love to see a 100% Let's Play of this hack ^^
Btw: Is it possible to dash as a morph ball? Has anyone ever managed to do this?

Yes, if you time it right, you can boost, jump, morph, and still bring your Boost echoes with you. I don't know if he programmed it to be "easier" to accomplish in this game, but it's definitely possible. For the secret room, it's absolutely near-impossible. However, I was playing with the older version so it's unknown if he changed this specific part. Like I said, I tried it WAY too many times before ultimately giving up. I'd LOVE to see someone try this without save states (it can't be done, imo) before pulling their hair out. The room is (big surprise) hidden; you have to run to the left towards a wall that is really a hidden doorway in upper (eastern?) Chozodia. I will try posting up pics of the location later.

One more thing: I kinda get the feeling (due to the lack of responses in here) that this hack is going unnoticed, (which I hope to remedy soon) even though it may have surpassed both SM and ZM in terms of gameplay, level design, challenge, and replayability. Anyone else feel that way too?
