Operation Rainfall (Last Story, Xenoblade, Pandora' Tower)

Were any of you looking forward to these three games? Well if you live in Europe you're going to get them (complete with a SPECIAL CONTROLLER) but as for America, nope not going to happen. When it was revealed that NOA outright refused NOE when they wanted to show off Xenoblade Chronicles during E3 because NOA didn't want to advertise a video game that they were not going to release. This seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back because there is a facebook, youtube, twitter, snail mail and a Amazon pre-order campaign to get Nintendo of America's attention.

If you wanted any of these games please support Operation Rainfall, thank you. z:D

Did my bit on preordering all three at this canadian gaming site that joined in.

It's amazing how much attention this whole operation is getting.

Wait, all three are being released in Europe? I knew about Xenoblade, but hadn't heard anything about Last Story or Pandora's Tower.

Well, in the worst case scenario, I'll get the PAL versions.

I don't know how to support this. TELL ME HOW THIS INSTANT, GOD*MNIT! :awesome:

Seriously though, I hope this gets enough supporters that they all come to the US. It would be a shame to not get to play such great looking games. (Well, to tell you the truth, I have no interests in getting Xenoblade, but I know a lot of people do, so I might as well help them out)

Ditto on the "support how?" comment. Sure I support this, now tell me HOW to make that matter.

To help:

1. Leave comment on Nintendo's Facebook page

2. Email Nintendo of America

3. Send Reggie letter w/ generic paragraph written by the originator of the campaign by clicking here http://oprainfall.blogspot.com/

Edit: Nintendo has said that they have no plans to release any of the three games in the americas :'( How hard would it really be to at least release the two games already being released in England, Spain, France and Portugal over here too. They wouldn't require any additional dubbing and it is obvious that people would buy them >_<

Hopefully, it's really just stupid PR bull on the part of a patronizing NOA. Remember, they said no plans "at this time." Apparently, they've said that they have "no plans" or denied a product outright when they most surely had or at least were looking into it. Just look at these Joystiq links:

So everyone! Please! Continue supporting Operation Rainfall!

I don't understand why people don't just kidnap Reggie and hold him for ransom for the Western release of these three games... It just seems more... effective?

And if none of this works, and they don't release any of them stateside, we can at least import the European edition of Xenoblade with those fancy English (or British, if you so prefer) accents:

And, oi, Animerican, nice to read ya again! Haven't seen you 'round these parts in quite a while.

That would be the best kidnap ever.

What dazzles me is that they seem to be completely ignoring the public that wants those games. I mean, adding subtitles can't be that expensive (few people would want it dubbed, anyway), and I'm sure the games' sales would repay that.

EDIT: OK, I'll write more about my thoughts on this:

Xenoblade Chronicles got a 36/40 review in Famitsu. The Last Story got 38/40 and Pandora's Tower got 31/40. Those are great reviews, generated by a Japanese public. I think that NOA's fears is that the crowd that is used to giving generic titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 a score like 9.5/10 isn't going to "get" the three aforementioned games.

However, Call of Duty titles are mostly only good short-term cash grabbers, while it's the Super Mario Galaxies and Pokémon Blacks that keep selling for years and years and, most importantly, will be remembered fondly as great games, different from the rest. Sooner or later (probably sooner), Activision will overdo Call of Duty and the franchise will go the same route as Guitar Hero. Nintendo has at least three examples of franchises done right. Mario, Zelda and Metroid have been around for 25 years and nobody in their right minds say "I can't take this series anymore" (some people do, but most of them never really play any of those series and just buy Madden and Call of Duty over and over again every year). Why not try to invigorate even more the first-party powerhouse that is Nintendo with three fresh, but equally appealing franchises?

Finally: Duke Nukem Forever topped the American charts this week, in both first and second places (360 and PS3, respectively). You disgust me sometimes, America. Ugh.

No definite, but Xenoblade is listed under its Japanese name Monado on Amazon:

Also: Lost in Shadow is now $16!

Yeah, it's been like that for a while now. In fact, when Operation Rainfall boomed, it reached the top of Amazon's video game sales/pre-orders chart.

According to the organizers of Operation Rainfall, NTSC versions of Xenoblade and The Last Story might be almost done. Just rumors, though.

Chances are Nintendo's waiting to see how well the games sell in the EU, and if they prove successful then we're more than likely to see a NTSC release. What strikes me as slightly odd is NoA's, and Nintendo's in general, stance on the issue, what with them claiming that the upcoming WiiU is intended to recapture the "hardcore" audience, that they would blatantly ignore said audience in this instance, or perhaps Nintendo's skewed view of hardcore only applies to their own titles? Either or, they've lost a massive amount of credit and good will with the very group of individuals they hope so desperately to cash in on, and although these three games may not turn such negativity completely around or prove monstrously successful it would at the very least a sizable step in the right direction. If the 3DS has taught us anything it's that a new gimmick and Nintendo's name alone aren't enough to push product anymore in the face of a disparity of quality software. You'd think they'd have learned as much from the Wii's overall lukewarm software sales and tepid variety, but I suppose that classic stubbornness of theirs isn't quite so easy to address.

I think the low value of the dollar is slowing the process of getting those games here.

I'm still waiting on NPC Pikmin 2, even though I know it's not coming and will probably have to import to play it.

Could've been solved if they didn't make the Wii region locked of course.
